Theo Val Johnson

1940 ~ 2018

After a valiant 1 year struggle to recover from a severe stroke Val Johnson passed away peacefully in his home on the evening of January 27, 2018.

The son of Frank and Grace Johnson, Val was born in a log cabin on his parent's farm in Thatcher, Idaho. His teenage years were spent farming with his parents and having lots of good times with his two best friends Thayne and Deon. Growing up Val LOVED to play basketball!

Val served an LDS mission to Western Canada and always said they were the best two years of his life. Soon after his mission he met and married the love of his life Karen Bagley. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1965. They settled in West Jordan, Utah where they have lived for nearly 50 years and where they also raised 3 beautiful daughters. He was an active member of the LDS church and served in many callings throughout his life.

Val is survived by his wife Karen, Daughters, Pam Foster (Lee), Shauna Cox (Roland) and Valerie Stone (Rick). He is also survived by 3 sisters, Shirley, Kaleen and Mary. 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty, his brother Lee and a granddaughter Janessa.

Funeral services will be held on February 3, 2018 at 1 pm in the LDS Chapel at 7171 S 2700 W, West Jordan, UT. A viewing will be held from 11 am to 12:30 pm at the same location just prior to the services. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy Utah.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and aides that have helped care for Val over the last 12 months. Including the staff of Sandy Health and Rehab. His personal aides Penny, Honey, and Sei from Amada Home Health Services. Trenasia and Nikki from AMG and Garrett his physical therapist. Thank you for your hours of loving care for our husband and father.
