After 39 years and 23 days apart, Margie Rose Delaney Sturm, 74 years old, was reunited with her husband on November 25, 2014, following her battle with stomach cancer.
She was born January 22, 1940 in Salt Lake City, UT to John Vernon Delaney and Teton Rose Lamper Delaney. She married John Emanuel Sturm on March 21, 1958 in Salt Lake City. He was killed in an automobile accident on November 2, 1975. She worked for Grand Central/Fred Meyer stores from 1959-1967, and again from 1979-2005.
Margie\s enduring legacy will be the strength and determination she showed throughout her life. Following her husband\s death, she was left with the task of raising their five children alone, which she did without complaint or self-pity, and she never lost her feistiness or sense of humor. She worked hard to provide for her children, yet never turned away someone in need. She\ll be remembered for being dedicated to her husband, children and family, and she will be greatly missed by so many whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her daughters Tawyna R. Gallup, Shelly R. Sturm, Margie (Brent) Parker, and son John E.M. (Sarah) Sturm; 7 grandsons (Brandon, Trenton, Colton, Cameron, Dalton, John, Samuel), 6 granddaughters (Tiffany, Jamie, Alexandria, Bailey, Shelbi, Emma); 5 great-grandsons (Koby, Spencer, Preston, Payton, Royce) and one great-granddaughter (Hailey); brothers William Michael (Nancy) Chambers and Bryan Kent \"Skipper\" Delaney; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter Heidi Sturm Wright, and sister Carole Jeanne Delaney Eaton.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 1, at 12:00 noon, at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple in Salt Lake City. Viewings will be held on Sunday night from 6-8 p.m. and also one hour prior to the funeral services at the mortuary. Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens in Murray.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Utah Motorsports Foundation, 764 West South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84104. The family also wishes to thank the staff of the Residence of CareSource for providing care and comfort to Margie in her final days.
