Patricia Ann Shelley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away in her home on March 16, 2022. Pat was born November 7, 1952, in Paducah, Kentucky to William F. and Patricia A Ping Holt (both deceased), and later joined by her younger brother William "Bill" Holt.

Pat was a wonderful soul, who loved the gathering of family, the thrill of adventure in traveling, the beauty and creativity of art and screen, and the accomplishment in her talents with art and quilting.

She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints following a strong testimony and love for her Savior Jesus Christ. She was introduced to, and later became a member of the church in her youth while in Kentucky. Her testimony of the church brought her to Utah where she attended Brigham Young University and eventually met Don with whom she loved and married on April 24, 1976, and was sealed for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married 35 years at the time of his passing in 2012.

Always the dedicated mother and grandma, she cherished any time family gathered for any occasion. She loved to spoil the family (especially the grandkids) with homemade treats and meals, special games and gifts to brighten every visit and holiday. Her favorite was to get them in the car and drive somewhere fun, go out to eat, or find some new tasty treat or drink somewhere. She treasured time with family, and was always so proud and supportive of all of their accomplishments. She never missed opportunity to attend a play, cheer from a sideline, or whatever she could do to show how proud she was and that she was your biggest supporter.

Any chance she could head out the door into a car, plane or boat to see the world, she was always ready to go. She had an insatiable thirst for adventure. She loved to see and visit anywhere new, but also valued relaxing somewhere tried, true and familiar as well. Her and her husband, Don, found such joy in boarding a cruise ship and seeing the world, or turning down some unfamiliar road off the highway while exploring the Eastern States. Disney World or Las Vegas, Kentucky or Alaska, Italy or Panama, she didn’t care because she was always ready for a good time.

Part of her love of travel was to see all the beauty and creativity that the world has to offer. From the art from history in Europe, to the modern pop arts of FanX, or the magical world of Harry Potter, she adored the creative minds that can produce such astonishment.

This appreciation of talent came from the talents that resided within her. She was quite gifted in graphic arts, hand drawn pieces, wood working projects, and most famously for her quilting. She had an eye for beauty and loved to share it with others. She loved to provide blankets for newborns and newly weds, pillowcases for grandkids, or embroidered towels for a baptism. Every member of her family has a special piece of her talent to hug and hold because of her gifted hands and heart. The neighbors always appreciated her visual talents at Halloween time when her home was transformed into a haunted house for everyone to enjoy. Her love of this holiday was certainly transferred to her kids and grandkids that get into the spirit now just as much as she did.

She is survived by her four children, Joshua Shelley, Jacob Shelley, Genny (Mat) Houston, Jaime (Tom) Gubler, 11 wonderful grandchildren, and her brother Bill (Nancy) Holt. She was preceded in death by her eternal companion Don, her beloved parents Bill and Pat, and her stepmother Helen.

Viewing will be held at the LDS Prescott Chapel, 10975 South Prescott Drive, Sandy, UT on Tuesday evening, 03/22/22 from 6-8 PM, and Wednesday morning, 03/23/22 from 10-11:00AM. Services will be held in the same location, Wednesday, 03/23/22 at 11:30AM. Interment at Lehi City Memorial Cemetery, 153 North 100 East, Lehi, Utah. Your cute has been my friend for a very long time, we loved going to dinner with your mom and Dad. And your dad was a great coach.
One of my favorite things was when your mom and I went to the Salt Palace during the deer hunt and
watch a group of dancers. We had a great time. I loved your mom's kindness and her beautiful talents
with wood and especially her beautiful quilts. I am so glad we went to a movie last fall together. I will
always be touched by her tender compassion. Your mom and dad have taught you kids well and have left you a great legacy to live by. I know her grandkids were her a huge part of her and she adored them all and very proud of them.

Since middle school, Pat has been a part of my life.
She and I shared many adventures and joined the church the same summer
She was a dear friend and will be missed
But now she’s on a new adventure and we will all be together again
So while we miss her, it’s only temporary
She’s gone on ahead to scout out the terrain

Josh, Jake, Genny & Jamie -- the services for your mom were wonderful and just what she would have wanted. I am sorry I was not there in person but thank you for putting it on Zoom so I could sort of be there. I loved working with your mom in the Primary presidency for two or three years. She always did everything with so much creativity. I will never forget the quilt square she made for Brandon before he left on his mission. She decorated that square with all things Halloween. I am sorry for your loss and happy for her -- and a bit jealous too. I know she will be watching over all of you with so much love.

I have not been on the computer for a bit and just read the obit of your Mother passing. Pat's
Grandmother, Mrs. Frank Holt and my Mother were sisters. My Mother was Opal Puckett Hines. I connected with Pat on facebook and eventually we parted ways, but I always enjoyed our "talks". I am
so sorry for all of your loss. May she rest in peace and happy heavenly birthday today Pat.
