Patrick K. Taylor

1939 ~ 2023

Patrick K. Taylor was born in Sioux City, Iowa in July of 1939. He was the 2nd of 4 children. The family moved to Los Angeles when he was only 2 years old.

Pat moved to Delaware after his parents divorced, and at 17 joined the Navy as a radioman. After 4 years in an aircraft carrier and seeing much of the world, he returned to Los Angeles. It is here that he found The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and joined the Church in 1961.
He had a strong desire to serve a mission for the Church, so he worked and saved and prepared, and in 1963 he was called to serve in Argentina. This was a highlight of his life as he loved sharing the gospel. He was the ‘old man’ in the mission at 24.

In 1965 as he returned from Argentina, Pat began his schooling at BYU. He graduated from there in economics in 1969. He has loved BYU sports! He returned to Los Angeles where he met “the love of his life,” Joan Bennett Taylor. They were married in 1971. This last July 22 they had been married 52 years!

Pat and Joan moved around for work many times. From Reno to Los Angeles to Denver and back to California again. Pat had been in the aerospace industry and in 1984 Martin Maretta (Lochhead Martin) transferred him to Washington DC to work with the FAA on the air traffic control systems. After 3 years, he started his own consulting business, Program Management Associates.

After selling his business in 2006 Pat and Joan moved to Utah to be near her mom. There Pat served 3 church service missions. He enjoyed his professional achievements, but even more, he loved his family and the gospel.

Together Pat and Joan had 5 children; Brent, Devin, Kathryn, Scott and Ryan. Our family has grown to 24 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Pat has had many church callings and loved them all, but he especially loved working with the young men and being a ward mission leader. Pat also loved to travel and have adventures.

He is now off on his greatest adventure. Safe travels and God bless.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, where friends and family may visit one hour prior from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue & ‘N’ Street.
