Patsy Joan Magura Johnson

1938 ~ 2023

Patsy Joan Magura Johnson, "PJ" to her friends, passed away May 9, 2023 at her rest home in Cottonwood Heights a few months after suffering a stroke. Born September 19, 1938, in Bonne Terre, Missouri to Michael John and Lottie Mae Miller Magura. She grew up on her family's farm and after graduating from Bonne Terre High School at age 16, she traveled west to work in Yellowstone National Park, where she was baptized into the LDS faith in Lake Yellowstone. She moved to Utah and attended BYU and LDS Business College where she met Richard H. Johnson, whom she married in 1964 and raised a family with for many years in Salt Lake and Holladay. She was a secretary at Western Airlines for many years and also had the drive to own a few small businesses at various times in her life. She was very thrifty and overcame many hardships and taught her children to be strong and believe in their abilities. She was always a very outgoing woman and had many great friends from all walks of life throughout her life. Survived by her brother, her 4 sisters, three children, and four grandchildren. Thanks for all you did for us mom!

She was an unassuming woman so she didn't want a funeral, there will be a viewing Monday, May 15, from 6 to 8 P.M., Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple. Interment will be Tuesday, May 16, at 11 A.M. in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Ray, Amy and Daniel:

So sorry to hear of your mother's passing. No matter how old we are, it's never easy to lose a parent. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this difficult time. Rest in peace my sister.

Aunt Betty & family.

We are so sad to hear PJ is no longer in our ward. She was such a kind woman and shared many of her life stories with us which we enjoyed hearing from her. What a beautiful picture you have of her. It was fun to see her at her job at the clothing store in Brickyard. She will be missed and we are so sorry we didn’t know she was having health problems. Condolences to her family. God bless you all at this difficult time.

PJ was one of my beautiful Silver Slipper Ladies. PJ was always smiling, happy and fun. PJ always brought fun and would brighten up the room. PJ brought sunshine wherever she went. PJ would dress for the occasion be in Halloween or a ladies luncheon and always looked beautiful. PJ’s laughter, kindness, and friendliness will be greatly missed. Welcome back home PJ. Heaven is already a little brighter.
