Paul Herkimer Lewis

Paul Herkimer Lewis, passed away at age 85 on November 4, 2026, after a brief and sudden illness.

Paul was born on September 8, 1941, in Kamas, Utah to Daniel Lewis and Harriet Vernettie Lewis. He married Dolores “Pickles” Lewis in 1971, and together they made their home in Salt Lake City, Utah, where they raised their two sons, Abel and Tony.

Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who would do anything for his family and friends. One of the great treasures of his life was his marriage to Pickles whom he loved and cherished for over 55 years. Paul always enjoyed traveling with Pickles, but their favorite trips were to Yellowstone and the Oregon Coast. He was also an avid fisherman, golfer, and outdoorsman, and there was nothing he enjoyed more than sharing his hobbies with his kids.

Even in his final week, Paul made his family and hospital staff laugh with his unique witticisms. Paul will be remembered for his quips, his laughter, his stories, and his steadfast dedication to his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores; his parents; his four brothers, Joy, Earl, Glen, Guy; his three sisters Beth, Fern, Gert; his grandson, Cooper Nagy; and his great-grandson, Hudson Nagy.

He is survived by his sister, Agnes Elzinga; his sons, Abel (Laura) Nagy and Tony (Jennifer) Lewis; his daughter, Sheli (Andrew) Kasper; eight grandchildren: Cole (Alex) Nagy, Mason Nagy, Gabriel Lewis, Teauna (Sage) Lewis, Alexander Lewis, Niko Ellwood, Helix Ellwood, Katie Ellwood; and one great-grandchild, Dean Nagy.

All funeral and viewing services will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens located at 1950 E Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, UT 84092. A viewing will be held on November 9th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on November 10th at 2:00pm with an additional viewing from 12:30pm – 1:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Primary Children’s. Donations can be made at Primary Children’s Hospital.
