Peggy Egbert passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Holly (Mearle) Marsh May 3, 2026, of natural causes at the age of 92.

Peggy was born August 8, 1933, in Lexington, Nebraska to Basil Call and Lola Adeline Hogge. She had two older sisters, Elaine (who died of leukemia before Peggy was born) and Dorothy Jo, and a younger brother, Alan. At the age of five, Peggy suddenly lost her mother to complications of childbirth. She and her siblings lived with her Aunt Leah Call until her father remarried (Alma Alice Yarbrough with her two children, Karolyn and Don Kerlee) and brought the two families together in Rigby, Idaho. Peggy graduated from Rigby High School and attended Ricks College where she met her love, Zee J Egbert. They were married on Dec. 16, 1953, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Her husband was soon drafted into the military, so they moved to Texas, where he served in the US Army from 1954 to 1955.

Peggy and Zee J dedicated their lives to their family and to working on the farm where they lived in Ashton, Idaho. They also faithfully served in various church callings. Peggy was a Stake Relief Society President and held various positions in the ward Relief Society and Young Women’s organization. Her favorite calling was as the Primary pianist. She supported her husband as Bishop, twice. Peggy and Zee J served together full-time in the Arkansas, Little Rock Mission between 2001 and 2003. They also were Temple Workers in both Idaho Falls and Rexburg.

They had a family of 7 children, 3 daughters, Rhonda, Holly and LaRee and 4 sons, Richael, David, Kevin, and Alan. They have 34 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.

Peggy enjoyed dancing with Zee J, family gatherings on the farm, and singing with the Harmonettes at various community events in Ashton. She was a wonderful cook, baker, seamstress, and partner on the farm providing care and the fuel for the children and grandchildren who labored there. She was preceded in death by her husband Zee J Egbert, her son Kevin Egbert and three grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Rhonda (Russ) Pueblo, Richael (Jackie) Egbert, David (Lori) Egbert, Alan (Marla, deceased) Egbert, Holly (Mearle) Marsh, LaRee Egbert and daughter-in-law, Dawn (John) Toenjes.

Viewings will be held Friday, May 8, 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah) and Saturday, May 9, 1:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1313 N. 3600 E., Ashton, Idaho) followed by an internment in the Pineview Cemetery (Hwy 47, Ashton, Idaho).

Special thanks to Dani, Jamie, Zoe, Janet, AnnaBella, and other staff members of Harmony Home Health and Hospice for the loving care given to mom.
