Geraldine Moray

1932 ~ 2015

Geraldine Moray passed away on January 4, 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah; September 28, 1932 to Thomas and Edna Norman Moray.

She attended the University of Utah where she affiliated with Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and Lambda Delta Sigma.

Geraldine had a love for learning. She received her Ph.D. in Education from the University of Utah where she was a Teaching Fellow in the Education Department and elected to the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Geraldine taught elementary through university level classes during her career as an Educator. She taught in the Salt Lake City School District at Garfield, Lowell, Indian Hills, and Ensign Elementary Schools. She was in the Career Ladder Program where she was actively involved in the School District's reading and language arts programs. She taught many in-service classes for the district. Geraldine has served as an adjunct faculty member at Brigham Young University, Salt Lake Center, and Westminster College.

She was named Teacher of the Month by Salt Lake Kiwanis Club and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society for Women in Education where she served as an officer. Geraldine served on the Utah State Reading Executive Council and on the Salt Lake Teacher's Association Executive Board. She is listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers. She has authored several articles published in professional periodicals. She was an excellent teacher, and influenced the lives of many students.

Geraldine enjoyed being a volunteer in the community where she served as a docent at the Utah State Capitol Building and at the Utah Governor's Mansion. She was a member of Utah Heritage Foundation.

She cultivated an attitude of life-long learning. She was an avid reader and had traveled extensively throughout the world. She enjoyed gardening and interior design. She especially enjoyed her association with family, friends and students.

Geraldine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a missionary in the Granite Stake Mission. She also served in callings including Primary, MIA presidency, Sunday School, Granite Stake Sunday School Board, Sunday School in-service, Ward Temple name extraction and Temple Schedule Coordinator in the Foothill Stake.

She is survived by cousins Sharon (Darwin) Fuller, Camille (Steve) Purcell, Dr. LaVar (Jean) Harline, Michelle (Harry) Whipple, Robert Harline, Leonard Norman, Jennifer Fuller, Jeffery (Tawny) Fuller, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Fuller, and Jordan (Emily) Fuller.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Foothill 7th Ward, 2215 East Roosevelt Avenue (1460 South). A viewing will be held Tuesday, January 13 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and prior to the services on Wednesday, January 14 from 10:45-11:45 AM at the ward chapel. Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens Cemetery, 1075 East 4580 South.
