Stephanie Nielson Summers

1969 ~ 2015

Stephanie Nielson Summers passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Stephanie was born on August 10, 1969 in Fairfax County, Virginia to Philip Jay Nielson and Ruth A. Roop. She was the first of two children.

Stephanie graduated from Washington Lee High School in Arlington Virginia. She then attended BYU where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.

Stephanie and her family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when she was 10 years old and she later served as a missionary in the Buenos Aires, Argentina North Mission. Stephanie served in many callings including Relief Society President, Young Women's President and in the Primary Presidency. Stephanie's favorite calling was the primary. Stephanie loves children and taught school at Lone Peak Elementary for many years.

After a blind date and whirl wind courtship, Stephanie married Neal Summers on June 20, 1998 in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived for a short time in Logan before moving and making their home in Sandy, Utah. They were blessed with three wonderful children Logan, Noah and Olivia.

Stephanie enjoyed quilting, photography and spending time with her family. Creating memories on family vacations was a way of life for Stephanie and her family.

Stephanie leaves behind her husband Neal and her three children Logan (11), Noah (8) and Olivia (5) of Sandy. Her parents, Philip Nielson, Arlington VA, Ruth Nielson, Las Cruces, NM, her sister Heather and Andrew Eoff and their three children McKenna, Miranda and Graeme of American Fork and her mother in law, Wanda Summers of Aberdeen, ID.

She is preceded in death by her father in law, George Summers and her grandparents.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy. The funeral will be held on Saturday, January 24 at the Crescent 12th Ward Building at 89 East 11000 South, in Sandy. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 and the funeral will start at 11:11 a.m. (Not a typo).
