Consuelo Rowley

1929 ~ 2015

As a family we are saddened by the passing of our dear mother and grandmother on Saturday January 10, 2015 due to complications from surgery. However, we are grateful for every minute we were able to spend with her in the final stages of her life. She was surrounded by her family as she peacefully passed on to a grand reunion with her husband Dennis who preceded her in death 19 years ago. We are grateful for the example of endurance and patience she has displayed over the years as she lived out her life as a widow reading a good book, making a new friend, or making someone smile or laugh. Her zeal for life was infectious as she enthusiastically pursued many interests over the years including music, the arts, BYU athletics, employment with BYU and the Missionary Training Center. In addition, she was always interested in any activity involving her children and grandchildren. She was our greatest fan and lived life through her children and grandchildren, lauding their accomplishments and agonizing over their setbacks. A talented and accomplished musician she performed countless musical solos as a soprano throughout her life. Her most cherished piece of music is "O Divine Redeemer" and she lived each day as a reflection of her faith in the lyrics of the music. We are confident she is already participating in the choirs in Heaven and "nailing a high C".

She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all of her life serving a full time mission to the Western United States and held multiple callings in the various auxiliaries, including Relief Society President, Sunday School teacher, to name a few. Mom was born March 22, 1929 in La Jara, Colorado to Cipriano and Lillie Trujillo as the last of 9 children. She later married the love of her life Dennis Rowley in the Salt Lake Temple on April 18, 1961.

Funeral services will be held Friday January 16th, 2015 at the LDS Chapel located at 10885 South Pampas Drive in Sandy Utah. Viewings will be held on Thursday January 15th from 6-8PM at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy Utah and again from 10-11AM at the church chapel prior to the funeral.

Consuelo is survived by her children: Evan (Heather) Rowley, Denise (Alan) Chadwick, and Neale (Emily) Rowley and 13 grandchildren.

Last but not least, our family is indebted to the health care professionals at Lone Peak Hospital, Compass Rehab Center, and Tender Care Home Health and Hospice for the kindness and love extended to our mother over the past few weeks. They are angels among us!
