Bart Christian Johnson

1975 ~ 2015

Our Handsome Bart passed away on December 6, 2015, after a hard six-month battle with melanoma. He died at his parents' home with his wife and other family.

Bart was born to Mark and Barbara (Clements) Johnson on January 22, 1975, at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. He graduated from Highland High School and worked at Sunbelt Rentals writing contracts and managing equipment.

Bart had the ability to make everyone feel like family. He loved fishing, camping, four wheeling, and most anything outdoors, especially with his boys. He was so athletically gifted, loved to skateboard and snowboard, and played many sports throughout his life. At the time he became sick, he and his beach volleyball partner had qualified to play the championship game. He lived life passionately.

Bart is survived by his beautiful wife, Megan; his sons, Jack (6) and Christian (10); his parents, Mark and Barbara Johnson; his brothers, Matthew C. (Jennifer) Johnson, R. Dean (Melissa) Johnson; his sister Molly (Jon) McAffee; his father and mother-in-law, David and Lisa Ricketts; his sisters-in law, Aubrey and Julia Ricketts and Laura (J.B.) Priddy; his brothers-in-law, Samuel and Charles Ricketts; and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his fraternal grandparents, Richard C. and Marie Johnson, and his maternal grandparents, Earl D. and Margaret Clements, and his cousins Scott and Michael Kirk. We're thinking of their happy reunion.

His services will be held on Friday, December 11, at 11 a.m. in the LDS chapel at 1889 South 1700 East in Salt Lake with a viewing to begin at 9:45 a.m. A viewing will be held Thursday at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Instead of flowers, you may wish to donate to Bart's GoFundMe account at www.gofundme.com/z5fm5g or to Megan directly to help her pay his medical costs, or to the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Condolences will be welcome at www.larkinmortuary.com
