J.D. Whitney

1954 ~ 2015

Passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 61. J.D. was the best son, brother, cousin, uncle and friend! He loved competing in the Special Olympics, cars, coffee, Tom Jones songs, cowboy boots, camping and eating at his favorite restaurant, Chuck-A-Rama, on Sundays after attending services at Miracle Rock Church. Those who knew J.D. will remember him for his 8:00 AM call to report that he was "Really Good". He was the most optimistic, happy go lucky guy, especially when wearing his dad's cowboy boots. Thanks to the family of Max and Beda Nelson for providing a wonderful experience in Utah's first Group Home as well as Dave Hennessey and the Turn Community Service team who provided endless support and activities-J.D.'s favorite being rafting in Moab. His biweekly trips home to SLC to visit with family were a highlight for all of us.

He is survived by his mom, Connie Whitney and siblings, Bob (Bobbie) and Diane (Bill Green) and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his dad, Spencer and big brother, Spencie.

Services will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Friday, July 3 at 10:00 AM (viewing) and 11:00 AM (service). Mt. Olivet Interment following. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Special Olympics.

-Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life ‚ Psalm 23:6
