Susan Alta Woodruff

1936 ~ 2016

Susan Alta Woodruff, age 79, passed away June 7, 2016. She was born August 27, 1936, in Salt Lake City to Douglas Owen Woodruff and Alta Crawford Woodruff.

Susan graduated from East High School and went on to attend the University of Utah, where she earned a BS degree in Elementary Education (1958) and an MS degree in Speech Pathology (1973). She was initiated into the scholastic honor society of Phi Kappa Phi. As an undergraduate, she was a member of Chi Omega sorority.

Sue worked as a speech pathologist in the Granite School District for 32 years.

In her early years she enjoyed figure skating both in Salt Lake and at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She became a figure skating judge and judged many skating tests and competitions.

She loved animals—especially dogs—many of whom were lucky enough to become her companions. Susan had an appreciation of the arts, particularly the visual arts. She was an enthusiastic sports fan, following the U of U football, basketball, and gymnastics teams. She also enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz.

Susan loved her home and garden. She enjoyed life and had many close friends.

She is survived by nieces Laurie Connor, Kiki Mulliner, Mimi McNeely (Curt), and nephew James Mulliner.
