Ruthe Oldham Ludlow

1914 ~ 2015

Ruthe Oldham Ludlow passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, January 17, 2015. She just celebrated her 100th birthday. Born on December 23, 1914, to Lloyd and Lydia Oldham, in Paradise, Utah, she was the third of eight children. When she was 14 months old, the family moved to a farm in southern Idaho, where she learned the importance of family and the value of hard work, traits she would exemplify her entire life.

After graduating from Jerome High School, Ruthe moved to Salt Lake City to attend Stevens-Henager College. She then met Marvin "Bus" Ludlow. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 10, 1937. They spent 74 happy years together before Bus died, just over three years ago.

Ruthe loved to dance, sing, and play the piano and organ. She was a faithful member of the LDS church her entire life and served in many capacities. Ruthe and Bus served two missions to the Swiss temple and worked in the Salt Lake Temple for more than 20 years. She felt it a privilege to serve as an ordinance worker and play the organ in the temple. Ruthe once described her ideal day as "going to the temple."

Ruthe is survived by her three sons, Marvin (Karen), Larry (Jeanne) and Warren (Janene), 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Ruthe's only daughter, Kathy, died at the age of 17 in 1965. Although her surviving family and friends miss her, we know Ruthe, Bus, Kathy, and other family and friends are together once again.

A celebration of Ruthe's life will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 12 noon, at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held that morning at 10:30-11:30 am. Interment is in Wasatch Lawn cemetery. Online condolences may be left at larkincares.com.
