  • Fannie J. Childs our sweet mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away at the age of 98 years old, on June 4, 2020, in South Jordan, Utah with her daughter Pam by her side. She was born on May 27, 1922 in Ephraim, Utah to Jack and Laverne Johnson. She graduated from Snow College in 1942. She married Glenn E. Childs on October 28, 1943 in the Manti Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She was the only girl in her family and had 4 brothers. She spent her childhood in Ephraim. Her family lived on 1st West and Center Street. They had enough property for a garden, chickens, and a cow which kept them fed through the Great Depression. She slept outside in a tent during the summer, sometimes with her girlfriends. She spent her life serving her family, friends, and the Savior.

Fannie is survived by her 3 daughters Pam Pyne, Annette Cherrington, and Gayle (James) Hatch, sibling Richard Kent (Susan) Johnson, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Russell, Neal, and Mace, her husband, and a son, Glenn Russell.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held from 12:00 noon – 1:30 pm prior to the services.

Special thanks to Valeo Homecare and Hospice, specifically Amber, Sara, PJ, Sandy, and Shelly.

    Guestbook/Condolences

So many memories of her!! She was kind and caring. She gave me rides to Granite High School unselfishly along with her daughter, Gayle, for most of the three years I attended there. She was always happy and friendly as she served everyone!! Wow! Hard to believe she was 98!! So sorry for your loss! Love to all of you. Pam, I wasn’t around when you were growing up but I remember when you lived
in the Taylorsville Stake. We both were in Young Women’s. I was in the Stake YM and you were a leader in your ward. We attended a Youth Conference in Manti!!
    Small world!!

My sweet grandma! I am sorry that the powers that be kept you away from me and my family. I love you so very much! I know that you would have loved to have gotten to get to know and love your great grandchildren, Magnus, Avery, Logan and Bristol, and no doubt they would have loved you! Fannie Marian Childs, you will be greatly missed but I know you are in a better place. Thank you for being my grandma!!! Love Love, Kristen Marian Vunder
