Joseph Russell Platt

1990 ~ 2015

Joseph Russell Platt was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 20, 1990. He passed away in the early morning hours of August 2, 2015.

Joey was a kind, loving soul who touched the lives of many. He graduated from Olympus High School and attended Salt Lake Community College. He was all about making people either A. laugh, or B. uncomfortable through his silly shenanigans. He was a construction worker at the time of his death and hoped to earn a contractor's license.

Joey loved animals, especially Luna his dog and Fio his cat, both of which are now beloved family pets that convey his sense of adventure and spirit every day.

His interests included pencil sketches and painting, rock climbing, snowboarding, and he was a talented pianist with a sensitive touch. Those around him would tell you about his talent for impressions, an Irish Joe as well as Johnny Cash were favorites. He could sing well, though he rarely did it in seriousness.

He had a beautiful winning smile that warmed our hearts, and he had a way of making everyone feel special.

Joey's immediate family would like to thank those at the Haven for their positive influence on his life as well as many friends and family members.

Joey is survived by his parents Russell and Mary Kay Platt, sisters Katie, ( Nate Terry,) and Annie, his brother Daniel, his niece Kimi, his paternal grandparents Lloyd and Josephine Platt, and his maternal grandmother Kay Greene, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather J. Thomas Greene.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon in the LDS Douglas Ward 721 South 1200 East SLC, UT on Friday August 7th. Viewing at 10:00 am. Interment will be held at the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
