James Elliott Jorgensen

1929 ~ 2017

James Elliott Jorgensen (also known as \"Jim\" and \"Jorgy\")left his earthly body on December1, 2017, surrounded by love as heaven welcomed a beloved son backhome.

Elliott was born July 6, 1929, the second of nine children to Alvaretta and Milton Jorgensen in Smithfield, Utah. He grew up on his parents\farm in Lewiston, Utah, where he had lots of work and lots of fun with his siblings and friends.

He went to work at Deseret Chemical where he met and married Jane Phelps. This ended in divorce, but produced his little look-alike daughter, Sherie Watkins (Lee). He later met and married his eternal companion, Doris Laursen, and she came with a ready-made family:LuJean Edwards (Bryan), Jennette Young (Kent) and Kenneth Jorgensen (Prapasri).

Jim loved being a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, a great-great-grandfather, a brother, uncle and last but not least, a friend. He served faithfully in many callings and had a strong testimony. He loved the gospel and he loved our country. One of his favorite things to do was take off on a road trip and end up seeing many interesting places. And he enjoyed sharing his adventures with everyone. He loved horses, camping, hiking, fishing and just being outdoors in general. His happiest times were spending time with family and friends. Suffice it to say, he loved life.

After he retired from working for the federal government, he began driving a school bus for the Salt Lake City School District. Later he moved to the Murray School District. He loved driving the children, but most especially, the little special needs kids. They will forever hold a place in his heart.

Elliott is preceded in death by his wife Doris L. Jorgensen; his parents; a brother Claire; a daughter LuJean; and three grandchildren Julie, Greg, and Jen (Rivera) Young.

Although Dad\s health had declined, we are so sad to see him go. But we are grateful for the knowledge that we will see him again. No doubt he has joined his beloved wife and there is a joyous heavenly family reunion in progress right now.
