Ruth Marie Shambow Allred

1932 ~ 2018

On August 4, 2018 our beloved Mother and Grandmother returned home to the loving arms of her Savior. Ruth Marie Shambow Allred was born Sept. 23, 1932 to Elva Marie Booth and Francis Levi Shambow in Tooele, Utah.

Ruth grew up in Tooele. At age 16, she accepted the challenge to read the Book of Mormon and gained a testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. She was then baptized a member of the LDS church.

In 1949, Ruth married Max G. Christiansen. They had seven children: Cathy Lynn Allred; Keri Lee Christiansen; Rodney Max; Neils Peter "Pete"; Lizette Baker; John Philip; Charles Andrew "Andy".

Later she married her eternal companion, Owen A. Allred. They had two children: Mary Ruth Fountaine; Martha Beth Aagard.

Ruth was very proud of her posterity: 77 grandchildren; 133 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She found delight in their many accomplishments and loved to display their pictures.

She believed in being healthy and enjoyed her hikes in the mountains to keep fit.

Ruth was a patriot of our country and the spirit of liberty burned in her heart. She loved to teach of the faith of our founding fathers and the miracles of the revolution. She had a passion for teaching. For 38 years, she dedicated her life to teaching history, math and language. She left her legacy with countless students. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Ruth's viewing will be held onThursday, August 9 from 6-8 p.m.at Larkin mortuary in Riverton. Funeral services will be held at11 a.m.onFriday, August 10at1224 W 16580 S Bluffdale, Utahwith a viewing from9:30-10:30before the services.
