Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather departed from this life after suffering a cardiac event, on Sunday, March 13, 2022, in Murray, Utah.

Ralph was born to Olive Jensen and John Edmond Bills on August 2, 1943, in Standardville, Utah. After his father's death in a mining accident in 1946, his mother married Roldo Ollerton and moved the family to Salt Lake City, Utah.

Ralph attended South High School where he met and fell in love with Marsha Lynne Silcox. On April 16, 1965, Ralph and Marsha were married in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed, along with their children Tamera, Jennifer, and Gregory, in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a member of the Church, Ralph served faithfully in many callings throughout his life, including working with the youth for many years.

Ralph graduated from high school in 1961 and joined the United States Army. Ralph served in the Reserves until 1968, when he was honorably discharged. Ralph attended Salt Lake Technical College. For most of his adult life he worked for Kennecott Copper. After Kennecott, he worked for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and, most recently, Lowes.

Ralph was a loving, caring, and fun husband and father. He was actively involved in all of his children’s many activities. Whether attending dance recitals, scouting activities, sports events or simply playing ball or riding bikes, he always showed his love and support. Ralph was an amazing grandfather. He taught his grandchildren in so many ways: having fun, teasing, joking; hard work and perseverance; improving and growing in skills and talents (from woodworking to fishing and everything in between). His work ethic and examples of supporting and providing for family are some of the best lessons he taught his family. His “do it right the first time” attitude has helped each and everyone of the family. His amazing handy-man abilities and talents have blessed us in our homes and kept many automobiles running over the years. Ralph was an incredible neighbor, mentor, and friend to all who met him. His sense of humor and many talents cultivated a great deal of love and respect from neighbors, friends, family, and co-workers.

As Marsha became ill in her last few years, Ralph attended to her needs with love and patience. Upon her death he missed her greatly. As high school sweethearts and eternal companions, they were great examples of true love to their children and grandchildren. Ralph spent the next few years alone, continuing his loving care of children and grandchildren and his work at Lowes. Lowes is where he met and fell in love with co-worker and good friend, Pamela Nichol. Ralph and Pam were married on February 20, 2018, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Pam immediately fit in with Ralph's family and friends. Her sense of humor, acceptance, love and patience have been a welcome addition to the Bills family. Ralph became Grandpa Ralph to Pam's grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved and enjoyed sharing his life with them.

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Marsha, as well as his parents and siblings: Gwen, Roy, and Clista. He is survived by his children: Tamera (Kyle) Hays, Jennifer (Dan) Freebairn, Gregory (Jane) Bills, and grandchildren: Eli (Meagan) Freebairn, Jared Freebairn, Brittan Bills, Nathan Hays, Sarah (Hayden) Sweet, Hannah Hays, Megan Bills, and Lydia Bills; his wife, Pam and her children: Alli, Kate, and Hollie; grandchildren: Max, Bill, Evie, Kaleb (Brittney), Autumn, Lexie, Hannah; and great grandchildren: Saphira, Jameson, and Marie.

Ralph was a loving, caring, and fun husband and father. He was actively involved in all of his children's and grandchildren's many activities.

A Memorial Service will be help Tuesday March 22, 2022, at 2:00pm with a visitation one hour prior at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy. Interment to follow.

Guestbook/Condolences

I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I wish the family's would of stayed closer then what we did, because when you lose someone that close to you it's always nice to have family to turn too for support, or just to be there.
My Love ❤ to all of you, Tammy, Jenn, and Greg. Much love being sent your way.

Ralph was our neighbor, if you jumped his/our fence, directly East you would be in his backyard. We met him and his first wife when we moved in back in 1992. He was always so willing to help me with ANYTHING I needed. We cut and trimmed a lot of trees together through the years. He was a good man! RIP my friend, we’ll see you soon.
