Obituary

Randi passed away peacefully after a few weeks of struggling with health issues on August 6, 2026 in St. George, Utah. Randi was born in Trondheim, Norway on October 14, 1942, she was the middle child of three girls. She lived in Trondheim until coming to Utah when she was 18 years old. She was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on April 20, 1958.

She was sealed to Lars Jay Hansen in the Salt Lake Temple September 22, 1961. They went on to have four children together. She helped in many ways while a member of the church over the years. She served in the Jordan River Temple from May 1994 to 1995.

She became a U.S. Citizen August 21, 1969. In her years in Norway she enjoyed swimming in the ocean and Cross Skiing in the winter. She was a member of a club of women from Norway that met once a month for many years.

One of the things she enjoyed the most was watching her grandchildren in the many sports and activities they were in. She loved the years she was able to go with her husband to the University of Utah Football games and was so looking forward to watching them this season. We know she will be watching and rooting for them from heaven now.

She was an avid knitter, cook and baker. Especially Norwegian Christmas treats and food, which will be sorely missed. One of her memories she mentioned recently was that she had really enjoyed going square dancing with her husband and how a close friend and neighbor helped her make her square dancing outfit.

Our mother was a very selfless and humble person and sometimes didn't recognize the gifts she had given to so many people over the years. She will greatly missed by all of her family and those that have known her over the years.

The family wishes to thank all the staff of Dixie Hospice in St. George, Utah for the wonderful help and care they gave to their mother and her family during the last days she was with us.

Randi is survived by her children, Annette (Harold) Wallace, Kimberly (Phil) McDonald, Troy Hansen, and Brian (Maria) Hansen; former daughter-in-law Christy Bartholomew; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Elin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lars Jay Hansen; her parents; her sister, Brit Israelson; former daughter-in-law Danielle Hansen; her great-granddaughter, Sarah McDonald; and her great-grandson, R.J. McDonald.A viewing will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, Utah, followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
