In Loving Memory of Rashmi Khanna Jarvis

April 1, 1949 – May 1, 2025

Born in Lahore, Pakistan, in 1949, Rashmi (Rashi to those close to her) lived a vibrant, fiercely independent life filled with integrity, creativity, and meaning. After suffering a stroke, she passed peacefully at the age of 76 under the loving watch of her daughter.

Her early life took her across continents—from Pakistan to Germany—before she eventually made Salt Lake City her home. Her adventurous spirit first led her to the skies as a flight attendant for Pakistan International Airlines, where she explored the world with elegance and curiosity. Later, she pursued a new path, studying cosmetology and embracing her entrepreneurial side by opening Ray of Dawn, a small boutique in downtown Salt Lake City. She went on to work various jobs before retiring in 2013. Married to Kent Jarvis for four years, they remained close friends and a united force in raising their daughter, Yasmine.

Known for her rebellious nature and feisty spirit, she lived with unwavering integrity and compassion. Her love for all living things was evident in her home, which was filled with thriving plants, and in her generous heart, frequently gave quietly to charitable causes.

She was deeply spiritual in her own unique way, believing that there was good to be found in this world. Her strength was matched by her creativity: she painted, made jewelry, sketched, and even explored the art of lapidary. She was forever creating and easily found beauty in the process.

To those who knew her, she was more than a mother, friend, or neighbor; she was a source of wisdom, comfort, and perspective. Her door was always open, whether for heartfelt advice, a little gossip, or a much-needed reality check. She gave freely of herself, her time, and her truths.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Yasmine, whom she cherished and doted on throughout the latter half of her life. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched and in the bold, generous, and loving spirit she so freely shared.

A memorial service will be held at Le Jardin in Sandy, Utah, on Tuesday, May 27 at 11:00 a.m.

She will be missed deeply, remembered always, and celebrated eternally.

My Dearest Phupho
Still can't believe you're no longer here. These past 2 months i kept telling myself i have to call you and fill you in on whats going on at my end, but that call never took place. And today instead of talking to you iam writing this! You were the only one who always understood me when no one did. Your unconditional love was always and will remain so special and dear. Thank you for always bringing comfort to me during my most difficult times.
Gone too soon. You will be truly missed.
Love you Phupho.

Very sorry to hear of Rashi passing away. Rashi was a close childhood friend at Cathedral School, Lahore, until we left after our Senior Cambridge (SC) exams in 1965. We were part of a small group of friends - Tahira Ahmed (TA), Tahira Khan (TK), and I. I have many happy memories of that time together . She was beautiful and so glamorous.

Dear Jasmine,
You don’t know me as we have never met. I am an old school mate of your mother Rashmi.
I'm deeply saddened to hear about her passing away.
Though it's been many years since we graduated, memories of our school days remain cherished. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.
May God bless her soul and grant her a place in heaven and give your family the strength to bear this tremendous loss.
May Rashmi rest in eternal peace.
Best regards

Hi Family,
We were so upset to hear about Rashmi’s passing away. We had not seen her for a while but always had the sweetest memories of her. She was such a beautiful lady, inside and out. Rashmi was always smiling and welcoming to any one who entered her home. We really had a great time when we were with her.
We send you our love and prayers.
Hugs to everyone,
Auntie Barbara and Uncle Larry

Dear Yasmine,
It was quite a shock to learn that our Rashmi has left this earthly existence.
I loved her for who she was. She was certainly unique! She was a smart lady with tons of charm. When those eyes began to glisten, you automatically knew something good was coming.
I enjoyed working with her at the Jun.High School! I have some great memories.
May she rest in peace. And may you, Yasmine, be able to look back on your lives together with great love and tenderness and many wonderful memories to sustain you.
May God bless you both.
With Love,
Charlotte.

I got to know Rashi briefly, just before leaving Lahore in 1971.
A wonderful personality who was much appreciated by all friends.
She will be fondly remembered.
Her star will always shine brightly in the heavens.

Yasmine,
We have never met but we (my family and I) knew Rashmi from the day that she was born and admired her spirit, her talents, and her good looks. Both of us grew up in a lane-way off Warris Road in Lahore. My memory of her is of a happy person, always ready to laugh, and always ready to help if needed. She had a good life and a fulfilling one. My one regret is that we did not meet as adults but mutual friends kept us informed about her. She was a much-loved person and so are you. God bless you.

You were like another mother to me as Yasmine like a sister I have the pleasure of having in my life! I will forever miss her and will frequently reminisce of our memories together as a family. Rest in eternal bliss, I love you!
