  • Ray Arnold Roden Jr. was born 17 January 1940 to Ray Arnold Roden and Opal Christy Ericksen Roden.

    He was the oldest of three children: Ray, Allen, and Joanne.

    He graduated from South High School in 1959.

    Ray was honorably discharged from the National Guard of Utah and as a Reserve of the Army of the United States in February 1960.

    He loved to travel with his family and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling with his best friend Dick Siddoway.

    He was a great Uncle to his 12 nieces and nephews and all his great nieces and nephews.

    Ray always made friends wherever he went.

    Ray was preceded in death by his parents, three nephews, Jason Roden, Don and Lynn Thorsen, and a niece Christy Thorsen.

    A viewing will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2976 West Winchester Drive (4270 South), West Valley City, Utah. Graveside services will follow the viewing at 3:00pm at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Millcreek, Utah

    Many of his friends were at Avalon West and as a family we thank Avalon for their friendship and tender care of Ray.

    Joanne, we are so very sorry for the loss of your dear brother. I know he was loved and cherished by both you and Neldon and I am sure he knew it as well. You spent so many hours seeing to it that he was such an important part of your life by your loving care and those special visits. How blessed you were to have him in your family.

    I just learned of his passing & have recalled many fond memories working alongside Ray at the Little America Hotel !!
