  • Our loving, sweet dad, adoring grandpa and great-grandpa passed away December 28, 2020 at the age of 83. You are as good a father as they come. We miss you already and you will be missed every day.

Ray was born February 5, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Austin and Althea Tippetts. He married his love, Ilean, July 19, 1958 in Elko, Nevada. They were later sealed in the Jordan River Temple. Together they had five children. Ray’s greatest love in life was his wife and children along with all his family. Family meant everything to him and he was quick to let you know. He loved to golf and was a great softball player and coach. He had a passion for music which usually led to dancing. Dad could make anyone laugh with his dry sense of humor – he always made us giggle out loud.

Ray’s lifelong love, Ilean, passed away December 2019. He leaves behind his son, Glen (Suzanne) Tippetts; daughter, Chae (Glenn) Troester, daughter, Kim (Mike) Wright; daughter Shauna (Sheldon) Hatley; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and Sister Joyce.
Preceded in death by his wife, Ilean Tippetts; “Our baby boy” Ryan Tippetts; Parents, Austin and Althea; brother, Merlin; and sisters, Kathryn and JoAnn.

The family wishes to thank Rebecca, Melissa, Tina, Dan and the staff at Beehive Homes of South Jordan who took wonderful care of Ray during his time there. They became dad’s “family” when we could not be there and we will always have you in our hearts.
A viewing will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 11:00 – 11: 45 am at Larkin Mortuary – Riverton, 3688 West 12600 South, Riverton, Utah.

Private services (due to COVID restrictions) will follow the viewing from 12:00 – 12:30 pm at the same location. Interment and dedication of the grave will be at 1:00 pm, Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 East Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy, Utah. The family wishes to welcome everyone to the viewing and the dedication of the grave. Face masks and social distancing guidelines should be followed.

    Guestbook/Condolences

Ray was a dear friend for many years. We enjoyed many discussions about the gospel, family, and gardening, and home teaching together. He was a great support of Ilean's creativity as they made a beautiful home and yard together. I miss visiting with them. May God bless your family with peace and love at this time of sorrow.

To the Tippetts family: I send my sincerest respect with the passing of your dad. I knew him through 2 different jobs as well with sports in Riverton when my children played baseball and softball. He was truly a wonderful man! He will be missed. God bless you all.
