Raymond Stacy McPherron June 29, 1943 ~ April 30, 2022 Raymond Stacy McPherron, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, age 78, of Orem, Utah, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022, surrounded by his wife, children and sister. He was born on June 29, 1943 to Stacy Wilbur McPherron and Ellen Eva Johnson in Dayton, Ohio.
Raymond grew up in Fairborn, Ohio near the Wright Patterson Airforce Base. This is where he found his love for the Cincinnati Reds Baseball Team. Go Reds!! Raymond’s family moved to Bountiful his senior year where he graduated from Bountiful High School. Shortly after graduation he joined the Army and later Officer Candidate School, after which he served in several Army reserve units, advancing to the rank of Lt. Colonel with an honorable discharge in 2003.
Raymond also loved serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in various assignments, such as MTC branch president, elder’s quorum president, and temple worker. He served in the Northeastern British Mission and Oakland California Mission. And later in 2014 served in the Seoul South Korea Mission with his wife Jean.
Raymond married Faye Jean Fullmer on October 8, 1971 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had five lovely children. Raymond’s family was everything to him! He loved spending time going on family trips and cheering on his children and grandchildren. He always loved spoiling all of his girls with shopping trips and enjoyed going to baseball games with his boys. He loved reading and reciting bedtime poems to his grandchildren. He had a love for watching Jean quilt and was always on the lookout for new fabric for new projects.
Raymond loved learning! He graduated from BYU and received a Bachelors in Political Science. Later he received a Master’s degree in Human Resources from the University of Utah. He was working on his Doctorate in Theology. Raymond worked for the State of Utah (Job Service), retiring in 2005.
He is preceded in death by his parents, twin sisters Annabelle Elizabeth and Lillian Emily, and his brother in-law Dean J. Madsen. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, sister Marilyn Kay Madsen of Orem, five children Phaedra (Brian) Sedgley of Allen Texas, Vernon Boyce (Jocelyn) McPherron of Orem, Adriane (Tony) Candelaria of West Valley, Nathan Gerard (Heather) McPherron of Springfield Virginia, and Dylan Spencer (SueAnn) McPherron of Lovettsville Virginia, as well as 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 6th in the Lakeview 5th Ward Ercanbrack Chapel, 2168 S. 140 W. Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday prior to the funeral from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Raymond will be interred in the Orem Cemetery with full Military Honors.
