Obituary

Rebecca “Becky” Wiscombe passed away on August 18, 2026.

Since her birth on October 23, 1966, Becky became known as a fighter. Born during a time when many impacted by spina bifida did not survive their first few years of life, Becky didn’t just survive—she thrived. She lived a full, enriched life traveling, working in the music industry, and exploring wherever she could. Her greatest joy in life, however, came from realizing her dream of becoming a mother and raising children of her own.

Many will remember Becky for her kindness and friendliness. She was the kind of person who never knew a stranger, because strangers quickly became friends. She would often be the first to put her own desires aside to bring another person joy, and most importantly, drop everything to crochet gifts of all shapes and sizes whenever asked.

May we all keep Becky’s memory alive through a never give up attitude and helping every individual we meet feel like they have a friend.

She is survived by her children, Eddie (Kortnie) Broschinsky and Samantha (Ryan) Hébert; her grandchild, Leopold Broschinsky; her parents, Allan and Betsy Wiscombe; and her siblings Christina Eakle (John), Deborah LeFevre (Scott), Peter Wiscombe, Wendy Shields (Douglas), and Stuart Christensen. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betsy Ann Christensen and her sister-in-law, Laura Wiscombe. She leaves a large extended family who love her very much.

Funeral services will not be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Spina Bifida Association on Becky’s behalf: https://give.sbaa.org/wiscombe

I am grateful to know you and to have had you in my life. You have been an inspiration. You challenged me in good ways and helped me understand the fight of the disabled community. We went through some hard times together and had some great times together. I will always remember your optimism, love of music, the complete adoration of your family, and the many amazing conversations we had. Love you forever ❤️

Jennifer Klenk

I’m so sorry for your loss. I remember when I was a kid how kind you were and what a good friend you were to my mom, Becca. You are such a wonderful spirit!

Joshua McCaffrey

I will always remember how loving and kind you are and all of our fun antics. I was just talking about how I would visit you in Eden with my husband. I am so excited for you to be surrounded by peace, health and love. 💕

Oh, Becky…
I wish I had known you were leaving so I could have come and said a proper goodbye.
You began as my neighbor, then became someone I was privileged to care for, and somewhere along the way you became a true friend. We shared so many good times and great laughter. I will always remember your warmth, your kindness, and especially your strength. I admired your tenacity so much. Life handed you a heavy burden with your disability, yet you met it as an overcomer every single day.
You were fiercely proud of your children and everything they achieved, and you lit up whenever you talked about your little Leo. You adored your incredible service dog, Ella, and fought for her with the same fierce love you gave everyone else.
I’ll miss your texts and those long phone calls that could stretch for hours. Every time I wear my “Outlander” inspired sweater you crocheted for me, I will think of you.
Fly high, my friend. Dance among the wildflowers in a body that is finally whole and free. I will never forget you.

Becky and I never met, so she is one of my unmet friends. I learned from her "example in adversity" positive attitude, and on two occasions she gave some priceless knowledge that really blessed my life and my wife's life as well.

So Becky, we get to meet you a bit later in more and hopefully celestial circumstances.

To family and friends, let me share my empathy and condolences during your time of grief.

Paul Ellsworth

I’m so saddened by Becky’s passing. I remember having so many great times with her in college and even a few after that. I loved her dearly and there is an empty place in my heart now. My deepest condolences to her family.

How I will miss your easy laugh and constant smile. Even your voice had a smile in it! Your kindness and ablty to love, extended to everyone you met. While you will be missed terribly by so many, the image of you running, walking, laughing, and being free of your wheelchair, eases that a bit. Please know I will think of you everyday, until we are able to meet again! 😘🥰😊

Today, I want to honor dearest Becky. She faced overwhelming obstacles, but she always persevered, she just kept hanging on! with such remarkable strength, deep resilience, and the grace with which she lived each day. Her life was a testament to courage. Becky’s daily struggles did not define her spirit, but rather showed how fierce it was. Today is a bit overcast, but soon the sun will break through the clouds, and we will say, “there you are.”

We were surprised to hear of dear Beckys passing. That beautiful Wiscombe smile brought a light to us all and we have so loved her example of strength in the face of such hard things. Our love and prayers go out to her loved ones and family - especially you, Betsy and Allen, who have been for me an example of the kind of parent I need to be. We are so thankful for the faithful, Christlike family you have raised. ##familiesareforever

Kathy Smith

What an amazing inspiration of strength and resilience! Even during her unending struggles she always was happy to talk with me and share her time with me. She always had that great smile, even when I’m sure it wasn’t easy to do so. She loved life and held nothing back in trying to overcome such debilitating trials and never gave up fighting them face on! My sincere condolences to her children and grandchildren. Know she will be working on their (your) behalf from the outside. What a beautiful reunion she must be having with her sister. May god comfort and care for all her family until that glorious time when all shall be together!

Dave Smith

I have several stories from growing up about Becky that I could share, but I will type them. What I want to say is that Becky was a cheermeister who loved holidays. She loved Sam and Eddie so much. I am so grateful for her grit and resilience. Becky will be an angel in heaven. I am so grateful for all she made for me and my family and for how much she stood up for Scotty and loved him unconditionally.

Wendy Shields

My heart breaks for you all. Becky was our neighbor who instantly became a close friend. She showed up for me when I needed it most. She shared many of her stories with me and always listened to mine. Despite her struggles, she made sure my son and I were happy and never failed to check in on us. It gave me strength as a single mother to know Becky was always in my corner. I’m so grateful she loved to craft and gifted me some of her creations to hold onto forever. I’d always see her chatting with one of the neighbors and would giggle knowing Becky couldn’t help but be friends with everyone because her personality drew so many people in. Knowing that Becky is gone from our world is encouraging me to make more friends, to be more creative, and to better understand Spina Bifida. For her to fight for so long is incredible and highlights exactly what kind of spirit Becky has. How lucky are we to have known such a beautiful human being.

So sorry for your loss. I knew Becky from high school and just saw her last year at the reunion. I hope she is at peace.

Becky,
Thank you for the fun arts and crafts projects that you made for my kids and for my little dog over the years. I was always so thrilled to get a message from you saying I made Snickers a little bit to sleep in or I made Kes a little stuffed animal. I hope you are crafting away in heaven. You will be missed. Xo Stef

Stef Brown Charlesworth

We had many very fun times. I will miss you. 💕💕💕

Aunt Nancy

Memorable- Remarkable- Beloved:
From first recollection of this determined teen “Stomping” her way on her crutches up the very steep Millbrook Way - through contriving under-desk straps to hold those unruly legs so as to better get her work at the offiice done' not refraining from falling in love - and dearly loving the fruits of that love- to fiercly challenging the threats springing from that bothersome hemiparalysis and its complications, Becky was very much alive and willing to really live every bit as much of life as it would allow. So many opportunities created and often achieved- so many challenges faced and often overcome. She was a paragon of hope - and effort. Hers will be a memory of love, oft unrequited - but never withheld.

Dennis R. Peterson M.D.

You can now fly and dance with the angels my friend. I'm so thankful, as we all are to have been a part of your journey in this thing we call life. Alot of wonderful memories we all will cherish my friend. I will miss you. Till we meet again 🩷

Although we never met but have heard so much from your mom as how much she was a true fighter. We send our deepest condolences and sympathies as it would have been a great honor to meet such a wonderful and caring person.

Dear Eddie, Samantha, Mr. and Mrs. Wiscombe and all of the Wiscombe family,
I was so sorry to read about Becky. I will always remember her as my club buddy back when we were in our early 20's. We had so much fun, all of those years back, dancing and hanging out. My mom and I rented your family home in Bountiful for two years and thanks to Becky, we had a great time.
Becky was always very kind and thoughtful and included me and my son, many years later, to a few of her family celebrations, after I had moved back to Utah. As I was going through a tough time, that was much appreciated.
Becky was the strongest person I have ever met. I know that she loved her children very much and her beloved dog Bella. I firmly believe she will always be looking over you all and her adorable little grandson, Leo. I believe that she is light as a feather now and is free to soar.
Eddie, you were your mom's angel and one day , you will all be together again. Remember her light as she will always be with you. With Sympathy, Beth Lepor
