Obituary

Rhea Morrill Williams, 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and children on August 13, 2026. She was born on December 16, 1930, in Tridell, Utah, to Leland and Virley Morrill. The fifth of seven children, Rhea grew up in a loving home that in her early years lacked many modern conveniences such as electricity and indoor plumbing. At a young age she experienced the loss of three siblings and then her father when she was only 7 years old. The way she confronted these challenges shaped her character throughout her life. She developed a legendary work ethic, a creative resourcefulness, a determined resilience, and a genuine compassion for others. She learned how to prioritize the most important things, especially her relationship with God and her family.

After her mother remarried, the family moved to Heber, Utah where she attended junior high and high school, graduating from Wasatch High School in 1949. She then moved to Salt Lake City to attend beauty school. There she met the love of her life, Herbert D. Williams, and they were married on September 2, 1952, in the Salt Lake Temple. They soon moved to Sandy, Utah and over the following 19 years, they had 10 children together. Raising them became the adventure of a lifetime and her posterity became her greatest earthly joy. Somehow, she made money stretch far beyond what it should have. She tended to the endless physical and emotional needs of everyone in the home. She kept the house and all of the crazy schedules in order. Miraculously, she managed to stay in great physical shape, serve faithfully in her church callings, quietly minister to countless neighbors and ward members, read her scriptures regularly and attend the temple each week. Most importantly, she taught her children by word and by example to love and live the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In 1980, they moved with their 4 youngest children to Las Vegas, Nevada. During that time, she finished raising her children and many grandchildren were added to the family. With children and grandchildren also living in Utah and California, Las Vegas became the gathering place where the family would all get together. She made life-long friends during their 20 years in Nevada until her husband retired and they began serving missions. Rhea and her husband served three missions together in Hungary, Cambodia, and the Netherlands. They also devoted 23 years of service in the temple—six years in the Las Vegas Nevada Temple and 17 years in the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple. Rhea also faithfully supported her husband as he served as a patriarch, typing 782 patriarchal blessings.

Following their missions, they built a house and settled in Bluffdale, Utah in 2007.

She is survived by Herb, her husband of 74 years, nine children: Herb (Keren), Jill Petty (Mike), Larse Timpson (Corry), Michelle White (Jeff), daughter-in-law Alisa, Annette Plitt (Andy), Nate (Lourdes), Sandy Truman (Boyd), Ben (Mercedes), and Maria Truman (Mark), 54 grandchildren, 92 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and son Trent.

Rhea was loved by many because she loved them first. She was known for a lifelong pattern of quiet, Christlike service to her family, friends, and all those around her.

Her greatest joy was her family and her faith in Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 14242 S Loumis Parkway, Bluffdale Utah, 84065. There will be a viewing Thursday, August 20 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Larkin Mortuary located at 3688 W. 12600 S. Riverton, Utah 84065 and Friday prior to the services from 10:00-10:45 AM at the church.

Rhea was a very special lady. I was privileged to serve with her in the Stake Young Women’s program many years ago. She was amazing in that calling and she set a wonderful example for me. A few years ago I ran into her as she was coming into the Las Vegas temple and I was leaving. She saw me and instantly rushed over and game me a hug. It was so special to see her again. She will be greatly missed. Much love to her family.

Rhea was truly one of a kind and just a remarkable woman. She was so nurturing, caring, and strong mentally and physically. I have no shame in saying that she could out-walk me any day! (her physical therapist) She was always up for any challenge. I will cherish the time that I was so fortunate to know her & hold many fond memories close. Herb & Rhea are the best, witnessing their love and respect for one another sets the bar the highest. Sending the whole family all my love!

Grandma, I love you and I miss you! I have very fond memories of summers in Vegas with you driving my sisters and I around in your big Cadillac. You will always have a place in my heart. Til we meet again! 💕

Rhea continues to be an angel - just now on the other side of the veil. We lived next door to the Williams in Las Vegas, and Rhea and I walked together four days a week at 5:30 a.m. for thirteen years and in between missions. She is my mentor, my friend, and my second mom. Her family is her tribute. Heaven is now blessed beyond measure with this busy, loving servant of God. Bless you all Williams' family!

Rhea was my daughter Maria’s favorite primary teacher. She gave Maria a little church book and the book was a treasure to Maria. She was so kind and Maria truly loved her.

Williams family, Your mom was a remarkable person. I'll always remember her great energy in taking care of her children. It was a blessing when you lived at the house in Peruvian Park so close to us and then to your Mesa Drive house. I always admired her. So many great memories.
