Richard Alan Liddiard, age 91, returned to his Heavenly Father March 19, 2022 from his home in Sandy, Utah surrounded by his family. He was born March 23, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Thomas Gordon and Elsie Heinerman Liddiard. He graduated from West High School and attended the University of Utah. Richard served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Carol Joyce Bennion, Sept. 3, 1954, in the Salt Lake Temple. Richard cherished his marriage to Carol and looked forward to being with her for eternity. He treasured spending time with his family at parties and family gatherings.

Richard had a strong testimony of the Savior and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He served faithfully in many church callings throughout his life. Richard loved attending the temple with his wife Carol. Later, he was able to serve as a temple worker for ten years until his health no longer allowed him to continue.

Richard learned to play the accordion as a teenager and his family enjoyed hearing him play. Richard had a lifelong love of music, particularly classical music, and he attended the Utah Symphony with his wife, Carol, for over 50 years. Richard shared his love for music with his wife and family.

Richard was a dedicated carpenter and craftsman who enjoyed an outstanding reputation for quality construction. He first worked with his father, other general contractors, and later employed and passed on his skills to his sons. He was an avid photographer and loved taking pictures of his family, national parks, and beautiful canyons. Dad, you will be missed greatly!
Survived by his children: Mark (Patti), David (Stacey), Brian (Connie), Sharon Dent, Christine (Perry) Lambert, Ruth Ann (Paul) Lloyd, Steve, Scott (Tricia), and Boyd (Britney); 41 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren. Guestbook/Condolences

Richard was truly a great one. So gifted with his Hands and skilled at building. Working with Dick in the remodeling business for several years I always found him to be kind, patient and dependable. I don't think he ever got sick. A lasting and impactful memory was-as I was visiting the jobsites ( often around mid day) I would find Dick eating a sandwich with the scriptures propped open, studying and exemplifying their contents. He was always the calm in the chaos of construction! I will miss him.
