Larry Harman passed away May 16, 2023. He was born in Granger, Utah to Claude and Gladys Harman. He had fond memories of growing up in Granger and would share stories of his childhood antics. He attended Cyprus High School and relished serving as the Student Body President for the class of 58. He attended Dixie College and the University of Utah, then started in the service station business, eventually owning two of his own Phillips 66 stations as well as Harman’s Towing.

He married Mary Jean Lee in 1961, after meeting on a blind date. They had two children, Natalie, and Mike. He loved his grandchildren: Patrick, Christopher, Erin, and Megan, and delighted in spending time with them.

Larry loved to hunt anything that didn’t hunt him first including deer, antelope, elk, moose, buffalo, ducks, geese, and swans. He was a member of the Harrison Duck Club for over 40 years. He also loved to fish and enjoyed time with his fishing buddies and family, even when the kids “caught” more snags than fish.

Wendover, Mesquite and Vegas were his idea of a good time. His birthdays included an annual trek to Wendover with family and friends including Jim and Coral Coffey, Dick and Gay Seastrand and their families as the kids grew to the legal gambling age. He loved to tell jokes, some more appropriate than others, and spending time at the family home in Torrey.

He is survived by his children, Natalie (Bill) Cullen and Mike Harman, grandchildren Patrick, Christopher, Erin and Megan (Kyle), and great-grandchildren Witten and Maci. He is also survived by his siblings: Blake, Louise, Don (Lila) and Rose also special niblings Chris (Randy) Schafer and Brad Coffey (Robert Thompson). He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean Harman, parents, and his niece Cheri Coffey.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at Larkin Mortuary Downtown, 260 E. South Temple. I'm sorry to say that I haven't seen Larry only once or twice over the years at a classs reunion. He was a Great guy, so kind and caring. I was his campaign manager, and helped him become our class president in 1958. That was a fun time in my life. I hope he gets a chance to see my husband Dale. They knew each other, and can share their hunting stories. RIP my friend!

Dear Natalie and Mike,
My husband and I drove through Torrey on the way to Capital Reef yesterday and stopped by the cemetery to say hello to our ancestors, only to find that Larry had passed away in May. I am so sorry for the loss, not only of your Dad, but your Mom, Uncle, Aunt and cousin. That’s a lot of goodbyes in such a short time. The memorials are a beautiful tribute to them and the happy memories we all have while growing up in the light of their kindness and light. Lots of love to you and your families during this time of transition.
