Richard Laughter, 86, was peacefully called home on November 11, 2022. He was born in Fairview, North Carolina to John and Vesta Laughter.
He moved to California in his late teens and joined the Marine Corps and served as an active-duty serviceman during the Korean War. After his service, he got married and had three sons. He went on to become a successful businessman in the liquor and grocery business. He became active in community politics and became the Mayor of Walnut, California. After that, he got involved in the Arabian horse business where he bred, showed, and owned many horses. His pride was his beloved horse Bart who was a two-time Grand National Arabian champion and won many awards in English Side Saddle and English Cart.
Richard is survived his by two sons, Christopher and Douglas, two Daughters-in-Law, two Grandchildren and five Great Grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his first son, Daniel.
