1934 ~ 2025
Richard Truman Huffman, Riverton, Utah
Richard Truman “Dick” Huffman passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025. He was 91.
A Utah native, Dick’s character was shaped by his early years on a farm where he developed a love for horses. He graduated from Utah State University and built a career dedicated to the land, working for the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). He later became a real estate broker and served as an expert witness in legal cases involving land, including cases later cited by the Utah Supreme Court.
His greatest legacy is his family. He was a devoted father to his children from his marriage to Carol Ann and later to his blended family with his wife, Ellen. Together, they built a life on their horse farm in Riverton, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen; his daughter, Sabrina; his sons, Michael, Phil, and Ron; his brother, Ken; and his sister, Kay.
He is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Ron) and Alison; his sons, Lon, Mike (Liz), Rick (Tammy), Ryan (CeCe), and Reg (DeeAnn); and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Saturday, December 6, at 10:00 a.m. The service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 12110 S 1300 W, Riverton, UT 84065.
We started visiting Dick right after Ellen died. We enjoyed our frequent visits with him in his home and later when he moved to the assisted living center. We always had great discussions with him about his life, his family, and his opinions about what was going on in the world. We grew to love him quickly! During our last visit we had a very open discussion about death and what we thought we knew about it. He expressed his curiosity about what it would really be like and he was actually looking forward to finding out and seemed ready to go! WE WILL MISS HIM! XOXOXO
I sincerely offer my condolences to you and your loved ones, Richard. Please take comfort in knowing that your loved one is at peace. May you find strength and courage in the days ahead as you cherish the precious memories you shared.
