Rick C Evans-Allen was born on August 4, 1958 in Panguitch, Utah to Clark and Betty Evans, with him gaining a second Mother, Elsie Evans in his young adulthood. He passed away February 6, 2024 surrounded with his loving family at his side.

He attended Provo High School and on completion, he knew he wanted to serve his country, starting with the Airforce in 1979, where he later was stationed in England. The military was important to him, as he served in three different branches: Air Force, Army National Guard and United States Army, expanding from 1979 – 1994, where he served as a Senior Airman and in the 2nd Battalion 222nd Field Artillery and many more duties. After being Honorably Discharged from all three branches, he always took great pride in being a Veteran and wearing it on his sleeve.

Rick had a passion for truck driving and made a career out of it, logging millions of miles while working for many companies. He started his own trucking business, Lunatic Fringe, which was always his goal. He loved taking his family on trucking trips and showing them the country.
Rick had many hobbies he took interest in that kept him busy. From working on old trucks and cars, camping, fishing, dutch oven cooking, guns and the Green Bay Packers, which he would say “I’m not just a fan, I’m part owner!” due to his stockholder purchase in the team. Last but not least, he loved spending time with his family, from his wife and kids, to grandkids, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Rick is survived by his Wife of 46 years, Darla Allen, who he married September 2, 1977. His Son Rory (Natalie) Allen, Daughter Tauni Allen, Grandkids Darla, Jaida, Zoee, Joey II, Rory Jr., Stevee and Rikki, 4 Great-Grandchildren, Brothers and Sisters and many Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his oldest Son Joseph Rik Allen, Parents, Grandparents, Best Friend Kit and many other family members which he loved.

A special thanks to Ellen Parker who has been helping Rick over the last 8 years at the VA Hospital and Larkin Mortuary for their excellent service at this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 S., Salt Lake City, Utah 84108 on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 11:00am, Viewing 1 hour prior.

Interment to follow with Military Funeral Honors.

I’ve been lucky to work with Rick as his VA Nurse Case Manager for almost 8 years and consider it a privilege.
Life isn’t always easy, and Rick has had a full set of challenges over the years I have known him. His diagnosis with liver cancer at the beginning of 2023 has been one of the most difficult. I imagine that he met this major life challenge the same way he met the challenges and obstacles he faced while serving our country… with stoicism, a matter-of-fact optimism, gutsiness, and a kind of grace that was uniquely his… Both Heather Kunz, Rick’s current SW Case Manager, and I wish him Godspeed & send our heartfelt condolences to his family…
