Robert "Bob" Schmidt Jr., aged 64, passed away on August 3, 2024, in Ogden, Utah after his fight with Stage 4 Cancer.
Born on September 15, 1959, in Ely, Nevada, Bob was a spirited and jovial presence, known for his kindness, humor, and generosity. He graduated from White Pine High School in 1977, where he was proudly part of the "BOBCATS."
Bob dedicated 40 years to Smith's Grocery in the Frozen Foods department, where his impeccable work ethic and willingness to help others made him a beloved colleague. He was a believer in the Christian faith, who would often turn to the Bible.
Bob's life was rich with hobbies. He was an avid football fan, enjoyed singing karaoke, and had a passion for collecting diecast cars and assembling intricate puzzles. His love for card games (especially Canasta), coloring, and watching wrestling, were only surpassed by the joy he found in spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by his mother, Mary Schmidt; daughters, Jamie Jacobson, Lindsay Favatella, and Rhiannon Chavez; sister, Tami Katz; brother, Scott Schmidt; eleven grandchildren; and numerous loving family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Schmidt Sr., and grandson, Aiden McPherson.
A viewing will be held for the immediate family on Wednesday, August 14, from 6 PM to 8 PM. A memorial service open to all will take place on Friday, August 16, from 10 AM to 12 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah.

Bob worked with me for a while, he was a great man. He was a very prideful and hard worker. I was often astounded at what he could accomplish, I didn't often see such dedication or efficiency. I'm pretty positive he could outperform 95% of piers despite his age. Not only this, he was very friendly, easy to talk to and good company. Bob, I didn't work with you for a very long time, but the time I did work with you was memorable. Years later I still found myself wondering how you were doing. If you were able to take space in my mind like that, I can only imagine what a special place you had in others hearts who were closer to you. You will be missed.
I worked at the home he lived in and knew him for only for a few months but I'll remember him forever. We spent nights hanging out (mostly him scaring me on accident while coming back from a smoke break), and having some coffee. We miss you so much Robert.
