Our beloved Father and Grandfather passed away peacefully but unexpectedly in his home after a brief illness.

Bob was born in Glendale, California to Arnold and Jane Burgener. The family later moved to Salt Lake City where he received his degree from the University of Utah. He married Diane Stewart in 1961 and they had two sons; Rob and Doug before divorcing 24 years later.

He had a love of music which ran in his family. Beginning with his grandfather, a Swiss army band Master, then his father who played cornet with John Philip Sousa marching band. Bob began playing the trumpet at a young age and was a beautiful pianist. While he was still in college Bob started Broadway Music, which was the largest music store in Salt Lake City at the time, and then Music City where he taught many musical instruments and created a band.

In 1987 he married Carolyn Richards and they were married for 30 years. Bob missed her terribly after her untimely death five years ago and was then sealed to her for eternity in the Salt Lake City temple.

Bob was an entrepreneur, investor, property manager as well as owner and operator of several successful businesses.

He was a published author, an avid researcher and scholar of LDS church history. Bob was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Bob had a great sense of humor and loved to make others laugh. He was also a great story teller and loved to talk about family history. He would always make time to help anyone who was in need.

His greatest joy was his family. He is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn. Survived by sons Rob (Katherine) and Doug (Jessica), four grandchildren Marc Burgener, Ava Burgener, Alexa (Nick) McDaniel and Richard Wells and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at the LDS church on 2080 East Donelson Lane. The funeral/celebration of life will be at 12:00pm at the same location.
