Robert Leroy Fericks, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on July 4, 2023 at the age of 63, everyone who knew him called him Bob. He died in Salt Lake City, Utah after a short battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

Born on June 17, 1960, in Oahu, Hawaii, Bob was the youngest child of Franklin Herbert Fericks and Carolyn Ruth Fericks. He left the beauty of the islands at a young age and lived briefly in Coronado, California before moving to Sandy, Utah, where he spent the majority of his life.

Bob graduated from Brighton High School in 1978 and went on to pursue higher education at the University of Utah. In 1982, he proudly earned his degree in Finance, graduating with honors, a testament to his dedication and academic achievements.

Bob’s true passion lay in exploring the great outdoors. An avid skier and wilderness camper, he found solace and joy in the rugged landscapes of nature. His most cherished memories were forged during his backpacking adventures in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming, where he felt the closest connection to the wilderness he loved. Bob was also an accomplished musician and enjoyed performing the songs he wrote about his adventures.

Beyond his outdoor pursuits, Bob was known for his warm, compassionate and eccentric nature. He possessed a genuine curiosity about the world and an unwavering spirit of adventure. With his infectious laughter and captivating stories, he could light up any room and leave a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.

Robert Leroy Fericks is survived by his siblings, Frances (John) Craigle, John (Jill) Fericks, Russell (Larry Ann) Fericks, David (Janet) Fericks, and his eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of sharing in his remarkable journey. He was a caring uncle and tried to impact the lives of his nieces and nephews and build up their self-esteem. He is also survived by several life-long friends.

During this time of profound loss, the family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the support and condolences received from friends and loved ones. Special thanks go to the ICU staffs at IMC and LDS Hospitals. They are amazing people performing incredible tasks we could never do ourselves.
