Robin Campbell McCabe

1931 ~ 2022

Robin McCabe passed away peacefully on February 24, 2022. Born December 11,1931, in Salt Lake City, to Tido (Dorothy) Ball and J. Forbes Campbell. Her early childhood was spent in Washington, D.C

A graduate of East High School, she attended the University of Utah and was affiliated with Kappa Kappa Gamma. She was also active as a Kappa alumna for many years.

Married in September, 1951, to Frank W. McCabe. She lived twenty years in Eureka, Utah, where she reared their six children, and was a member of St. Patrick’s parish and Lady Elks.

In 1972, the family moved to Salt Lake City. Robin was a “professional volunteer” and participated in a variety of interests. She volunteered at Holy Cross Hospital in many areas. She was a founding member of National Charity League. While president of the Salt Lake Needlepoint Guild in the early ‘80’s, she organized the Governor’s Needlepoint Project. At the Salt Lake Art Center, she was volunteer coordinator at one time, and served there for many years.

In 1991, she was chairman, and stitched for the Cathedral Needlepoint Project. After the Governor’s mansion burned in 1993, she oversaw the replacement of several pieces that were damaged or destroyed. She also created needlepoint pictures and pillows for Mrs. Field's Cookies and for golf professional, Arnold Palmer. During the 2002 Olympics, she was an official shuttle driver for the figure skaters. Robin was also a member of the Assistance League of Salt Lake City, and was a member of PEO, Chapter AI.

Survivors are her daughters, Laurie McCabe of Lubbock, Texas, Marcie (Bob) Walzel of Lawrence, Kansas, Patty (Larry) Emery, Jill McCabe, Jan McCabe, and son Zeke (Deaneen) McCabe of Salt Lake City, and grandchildren Channing, Ryan, Lucas, Kaelyn, Robby, Lauren, Payton, and Michael.
She was preceded in death by husband Frank, who died in 1988, and by infants, Mary Colette, Christopher, and Ann.

Her memorial service will be held in the beauty of late summer. Information will be forthcoming.

Beautiful Robin! I always thought she was such a classy lady and loved her. My sympathies and love to all her children and family, I used to babysit the kids when she and Frank went out.

Aunt Robin you will be missed. I am sure at this time you are sitting around a table with Uncle Frank and Aunt May & Uncle Paul and Harry & Jeanne McCabe playing cards and talking up a storm! Well maybe not you Aunt Robin as you were always much more quiet than the rest! Enjoy your new adventure!
