Obituary

Roena Lois Waddell, lovingly known to many as Ronie, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born on January 10, 1947, in Colusa, California, Roena was cherished by all who knew her for her quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and passionate spirit. She was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan, loved watching NASCAR, and found great joy tending to her garden. Some of her favorite memories were made during outings to Chin's with her dear friends.

Roena is survived by her son, Kenneth Charles Newman, and her daughter, Michelle Wagner (Milo).

Her legacy lives on through her beloved grandchildren: Blayne (Ashley) Newman, Dylan (Katie) Newman, Kylee (Parley) Barlow, Catlin (Bree) Wagner, and Kayla (Lance) Mortensen. She was also a proud and loving great-grandmother to thirteen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Taylor and Lois Uzella Villemin, and by her husband, Pete Waddell.

A celebration of Roena's life will be held in Nevada at a later date.

Roena's grandchildren would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who cared for and loved Grandma Ronie throughout her life. Your kindness, compassion, and support meant more than words can express.

I remember the first time I met Roni she had taken a part time job at Owen's market and instantly she said something flippant to Brad Owen!! And I laughed and introduced myself. We had so much fun. I loved her sense of humor. We thought a lot alike. My beautiful friend, you will forever be missed. But your memory will live on
