Roman Garza Salazar 71, of Salt Lake City, Utah died unexpectedly on May 22, 2023, from sudden heart complication. His loss was completely unexpected, and the family is shocked and deeply saddened. Preceded in death by his son James Otoniel Garza Espinoza, his Parents Roman & Cecilia Garza, his sister Maria del Refugio Garza Salazar, and his brother Rolando Garza Salazar. Survivors' daughter Sheila Garza, son Roger Garza, Grandchildren Eddie Garza Padilla, Victor Garza Padilla, Carlos Garza Padilla, James Jr. Garza, Great grandchildren A,leah, Bella, Xavier and soon to be born baby Garza. Siblings Romelia Garza Salazar, Maria Luisa Garza Salazar, Ramiro Garza Salazar, and Yolanda Garza Salazar. And many nieces and nephews.
Roman was born on February 17, 1952, to Roman & Cecilia Garza in El Nacimiento, Municipio de Muzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico. Roman attended School in Mexico. He migrated to the United States of America with his parents and siblings in the late 60’s early 70’s and worked in harvesting a variety of fruits and vegetables, from sugar beets to cherries, they settled in Salt Lake City, Utah. Once settled the family worked as maintenance workers.
Later in life he worked at Metals Manufacturing Company located in West Valley City as a Machine Operator, for 29 years. He was with his company till the end.
Anyone who knew Roman, knew that he was incredibly kindhearted. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, boxing and spending time with siblings and family. Roman’s family and friends will miss him more than words can say.

There will be a funeral service held at St. Therese Catholic Church 7832 Allen St. Midvale, Utah 84047 on May 30th Viewing starts 10:00 AM and Mass will start promptly at 11:00 am, followed by a Luncheon at the Church Hall. A viewing will be held that evening between 6pm- 9pm at Larkins Sunset Gardens Mortuary 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, Utah 84092. His burial will be held at 11:00 am, May 31st at The Larkins Sunset Gardens Mortuary cemetery.
