  • Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Ronald Don Seeley returned to his heavenly home Tuesday December 8, 2020. He will be greatly missed.

He was born August 30, 1942 to Don and Fay Seeley in Moroni, Utah. He always said I was born in my Dads month and moms day.

In his youth, he became an Eagle Scout. He had a dog-named Spot that he loved very much. He loved to herd sheep with his grampa Seely. He also loved the many summers he spent working on his Uncle Burt’s farm in Mount Pleasant, Utah. This became his second home and second family. He liked anything to do with farming. He also liked to tinker with cars and any type of mechanical things.

Later in his youth, he served a mission for the LDS Church to the New York/Eastern States mission. On that mission, he met his sweetheart Patty Ann. He asked her to wait for him to finish his mission. She did and they later got married in the Salt Lake Temple November 20, 1964 by Thomas S. Monson. Shortly after that he joined the Utah Army National Guard where he proudly served our country his entire career. He retired as Command Sargent Major.

It wasn’t too long before their family began to grow. They were blessed with three girls- Wendy, Tracey and Jodi, who gave them plenty of “adventures.”

He loved camping with his family. He taught his girls how to fish, he was patient when they would throw rocks into the lake scaring all the fish away and taught us that it was okay to use leaves as toilet paper. His favorite place to camp was in the beautiful Uintah Mountains. He loved to travel, tell stores-especially stories about family genealogy and hunting with his dad and brothers. He was also a very good Artist. He loved model trains and building small scale layouts.

He was a good and faithful servant of the Lord. He served his entire life in the LDS Church in many different capacities. He was honest in all his dealings with his fellowmen. In his later years, he served a Service Mission for the church at Deseret Book. He never turned down an opportunity to serve. His most recent service was a temple worker in the Draper Temple. Serving in the Temple brought him such great joy. He was a perfect example of selfless love and always put others first. He always gave to others and we are honored to have had him in our lives. He was such a blessing.

Preceded in death by his parents Don & Fay Seeley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Pat. Daughters Wendy (Kelly) Love, Tracey (Rick) Call and Jodi Luck.
Grandchildren who he loved so much are Jorey (Hitomi) Love, Kasey Love, Kobey Love, Tricia (Brodey) Moon, Shelby Call, Ashley Call, Zach Luck, Cannon Luck, Kanyon Rasmussen.

Great grandchildren who were the apple of his eye are Triton Love, Maia Love, Kaito Love, Makenzley Rasmussen and Paisley Rasmussen. Also survived by Brother Brent (Sue) Seeley.

We didn’t have you nearly long enough but we treasured the time we had. You will be truly missed but you will be forever in our hearts.

    We Love you Daddy!!!!

    Guestbook/Condolences

Dear Pat and family, I worked with Ron in the Utah National Guard on a daily basis. Ron was a true professional to work with and I am saddened to hear of your loss. All that knew, and worked with Ron have suffered a great loss with his passing. He was professional, detail oriented, patient and had a quiet reserve about him during some trying times in the Operations Shop at the Guard. Please accept my deepest condolences on his passing and may God Bless you during this very sad time.

I served with Ron in the Utah National Guard- I affectionately referred to him as my “Dad”’ as he mentored me through the training shop at Troop Command. I recently enjoyed texting with him on Facebook! I truly love this man and his goodness and kind demeanor are an example of our Savior. I am so grateful that my life was blessed with his friendship. He will truly be missed but we will see him again❤️

Though we weren't related, my entire family called him Grandpa Seeley. No matter how long it had been or how old I got, he always greeted me with "Hi, sweetheart" and a kiss. His example of pure and generous love are deep in my heart. I'm very lucky to have known this amazing man.

Ron was a great friend, neighbor and boss. He was such a great mentor and his wisdom was second to none! He was my first boss in the National Guard when I moved to Utah and served with the 625th MP Company, and Ron was my direct supervisor. He and I went to several summer camps together and we because close. I'm sure going to miss him. Sorry for your loss. I'll miss Ron and will continue to think about him, always.

Pat and family we are thinking about you and praying for you. Ronnie has always been so kind and genuine with me and my family. I could always expect a nice big hug everytime I saw him. Even though my family has moved away and been back east for the last six years, it has been fun to keep in touch with him through Facebook. He was always making sweet and loving comments on my and my wife's posts. He still managed to bring a smile to our face even though we were many miles apart. This is a big loss for us here but a giant gain for those on the other side. -- Lots of love from our family.

Wendy and family, so sorry for your loss. It's so hard losing a parent. Thoughts are with you.

Ron and I served together for many years in different roles but always got together to talk about Nascar races. He and I loved to talk about the last race or the upcoming races. Traded VCR tapes when the other was out of touch. Ron took over the 640 RTI after I left for Troop Command. Worked back in forth for issues on both commands. He was a great friend and I will miss his friendship. Bruce Cuppett CSM ret.

I just wanted to reach out to you and your family at this very difficult time. I loved Ronnie! He was always so kind and he always made me feel like I was one of his favorites. I especially loved it when he would tell me I looked like my mother (Aunt Maxine) . He always had a smile on his face and was so genuine. I'm so sorry I wasn't able to attend his services. Please know you are in my thoughts and prays. I pray that you may have peace and comfort at this difficult time. Love you all, Sincerely, Julie Seely Sorensen

What a great tribute to your dad. He was such a sweet, funny and kind man. His laugh was so contagious and he always there to help if we needed anything. We loved having you as neighbors and great friends. I loved how sweet he was at offering compliments to everyone and genuinely caring for people. I pray that your hearts will be healed quickly. Love you all so much!

    - Erica Richards

David and I are saddened by the passing of Ron, and that we were unable to attend. Ron was a dear friend to both of us as we worked together in the National Guard. He surely was all the things you expressed so well in his obituary. He was a gentleman, and he “is smiling.” We pray your grief will be softened by memories of joy.

I had the honor to serve with Ron for many years in the Utah National Guard. We were trainers and admin people working together to make our Guard Units ready for anything. He was always teaching and mentoring our soldiers, making sure we crossed the T’s and dotted the I’s. He added calmness to the many training meetings we held. I really appreciated his support of me when I was accepted to attend Army flight trading, encouraging me to improve myself and move up in my career. He was a great friend and I will miss him.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just found out that Ron passed away. The last I heard he was sick in the hospital. He was a great man and good example. I loved seeing his bright smile at church. He was kind and caring. I always had a great respect for his service for our country. Sending love, hugs, and prayers to your family and friends.
