On the morning of February 14, 2022, our dearly beloved Ronald D. Sweatman passed away at his home in Saratoga Springs, Utah.

He was born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 3, 1944, the oldest of three children born to his parents John C. and Doris Cappalli Sweatman. He graduated from Hope High School in 1962. He then moved to California to join other family members where he would explore many different career paths. These ranged from professional instructor and competitor of Ballroom Dancing to being a logistical strategist for large domestic and international trucking firms. He eventually retired from UPS in 2009.

He was briefly married and welcomed his son, Ronald D. Sweatman, Jr. before divorcing and later marrying his second wife, Sherrill, on December 6, 1974, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He loved watching football, basketball and the Olympics. He enjoyed traveling and camping with his family and friends and bowling. He and Sherrill belonged to several bowling leagues and with their team won league championships. One championship tournament held in Las Vegas, their team, called the Serious Ballers, won and were able to meet several PBA legends. He and Sherrill also loved taking their sailboat out on the Pacific Ocean from their slip in Dana Point, California. He always had a love of technology and was very tech-savvy, even in his golden years.

He is survived by his sister, Joan (Joel) Brodsky and brother Bruce Sweatman both of California, son Ronald D. Sweatman Jr., of Florida, step-daughter Daphnne Ulander of Michigan and grandchildren Rachel and Christopher Sweatman of Florida, Siobahn Hall of Utah, Siri Anna Ulander of Michigan as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his kitty Charlie Chan.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 32 years, Sherrill, his parents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

“Uncle Ronnie” as he was affectionately known will be sorely missed as the captain of the family, and as a great friend and neighbor.

No formal services will be held. Donations may be made in his honor to the National Fibromyalgia Association, or your local animal shelter as he welcomed several adopted dogs and stray cats into his family throughout the years.
