Ronald William Tingley of Taylorsville, Utah passed away at home on Friday, May 7, 2021, after a brief battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He was 79 years old.

Ron was born in Murray, Utah on August 29, 1941. He attended South High School and was a member of the South High ROTC. After high school he studied geology at the University of Utah before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1963. Ron was extremely proud of his military service. While on active duty in the Army he was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. He loved his country and always stood proud whenever the Army Song was played.
Ron loved the outdoors and some of his favorite activities included camping, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid bowhunter and enjoyed hunting trips with family and friends. He also loved shooting and was an expert marksman with both rifle and pistol. Ron competed in shooting matches throughout his life, and even participated in the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting in his retirement years.

A diehard Ford Mustang enthusiast, Ron owned and raced several 1960’s-era Mustangs, including his pride and joy, a 1970 BOSS 302. Ron genuinely believed in taking the path less traveled in life, and he was never afraid to throw himself into a new hobby or pursuit, even if it meant having to learn new things along the way.

Ron is survived by his wife Margaret “Peggy” Jettie Tingley, son Scott (Kim) Tingley, daughter Heather Tingley, and his grandchildren Shane and Sydney. He was preceded in death by his father Alfred William Alder, mother Dorothy Olsen Tingley, stepfather Clarence D. Tingley, brother Clarence D. Tingley, Jr., and sister Cindy L. Tingley.

Ron’s family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Huntsman Cancer Institute and Community Nursing Services home hospice for their loving care and compassion during the last few days of his life.
