Rose Marie Jones Saxton age 92 died on Thursday July 27, 2023 in Woods Cross, Utah. Rose was born in Millcreek, Utah on May 2, 1931 to William Marchant Jones and Mary Genevieve Murray. Until age ten, she lived with her mother and maternal grandparents in Salt Lake City attending Catholic Church and schools. She then moved to Henefer to live with her father and step mother Flora. She graduated from North Summit High School in 1949. She married Warren Joseph Saxton June 11, 1952 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of five children Linda, Joe, Ross, Norman and Darla. They also helped raise several grandchildren. The family lived in Wyoming and Utah. Rose lived in Salt Lake City for the last 49 years.

Rose was never afraid of hard work. She was a widow of 39 years and work tirelessly for her family supporting them through multiple jobs, her favorite being Linen Supervisor and Primary Children’s Hospital for 21 years.

Rose was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since she was 10 years old. Her favorite calling was serving as Cub Scout Den Mother and helped many boys gain a love for the scouting program. She was a lifelong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. Rose was also passionate about Family History work.

Rose had an adventurous spirit; she enjoyed camping, National Parks, road trips, and swimming. She enjoyed taking her mother and step mother on motor home trips throughout the American West into their late 80’s. She braved Lagoon’s white roller coaster at age 87 and experienced kayaking for the first time last summer at 91 years old.

Whether indoors or out, Rose had a green thumb. Crocheting was her lifelong hobby. Rose had a special love for animals but cats were by far her favorite. Holidays were always celebrated with festive clothing, decorations and of course food. She also loved reading, the color lavender, the Utah Jazz, Arby’s, Dr. Pepper, shopping and The Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Rose valued family and friends and shower them with cards and gifts on special occasions. Grandma Rose was her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s #1 sports, dance and concert fan. She attended numerous ball games, recitals, and performances even into her 90’s.

Rose is preceded in death by her husband Warren, daughter Linda, son Norman, grandsons Steven and Alex, brothers Wendel and Maurice, sister Afton and many brother and sister in laws.

Survived by sons Joe and Ross, daughter Darla (Dale), honorary daughter Lee, sister Ruth (Jim), brothers Warren (Irina) and Wayne, step brother Jim (Val), grandchildren Warren, Jacob, Joshua (Nicole), John (Rachel), Amyrose, Cristina (KC), Rebecca, Bradley (Krisitn), Tyler (Shailynn), and Jared (McKenzie), 16 great grandchildren Roslyn, Marcus, Harper, Judith, Ezzie, Macey, Jack, Sam, Hadlee, Auree, Kya, Adison, Jamison, Clara, Dax, and Nahla.

The family wishes to thank two very special angels, neighbors, and friends Joanne and Clela for their vigilant and watchful care of mom and the entire family for the past 41 years.

A viewing will be held Friday August 4, 2023 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at Larkin Mortuary (260 East South Temple Salt Lake City, Utah).
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday August 5, 2023 at the LDS chapel at (708 North Main Street in Henefer, Utah). There will be a viewing prior to services from 9:00 - 10:30 AM.

Interment will be directly following the services at the Henefer City Cemetery.
