Roy “Gordon” Royter, 83, Passed away peacefully at his home in Sandy, Utah, on February 22, 2025. He was born on August 13, 1941, to Roy and Bessie (Bybee) Royter in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Gordon was a devoted husband to Sandra (McCafferty) Royter, whom he married on March 31, 1977. Together, they built a loving life in Sandy. He was a proud and loving father to Kenneth, Steven, Lynda, and Tina. Gordon also cherished his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather, with his grandchildren and great grandchildren bring him immense joy. His beloved puppies, Bailey and Lacey, also held a special place in his heart.

Gordon had a long and successful career in the trucking industry, where he worked for over 60 years in various roles of responsibility. He retired from Motor Cargo after 32 years, when the company merged with UPS in August 2006.

An avid outdoorsman, Gordon enjoyed camping, fishing, and golfing, especially when spent with family. He also loved dancing and had a natural rhythm on the dance floor, always ready to "cut a rug." His greatest joy, however, was the time spent with his family and the love he shared with them.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Sandra (McCafferty) Royter; daughters Lynda (Daron) Mamborg and Tina Royter, siblings Marilyn (Junior) Gallegos, Randall (Steph) Royter; sister-in-law Linda (McCafferty) Dewyea; brother-in-law Robert McCafferty, as well as 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Bessie (Bybee) Royter; parents-in-law Silas "Bish" and Bessie (Peterson) McCafferty; sons Kenneth and Steven Royter, brothers Mitchell and Scott Royter; and brothers-in-law Tom Dewyea and David McCafferty.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Valeo Home Health for the exceptional care they provided to Gordon during his final year.

Funeral services will be held at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E 1300 S, Salt Lake City, Utah on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with a viewing prior to services from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45p.m.
