Linda Burns

1941 ~ 2018

Pull up a chair and celebrate Ma Burns, Linda Burns (1941‚2018). A powerhouse of a personality, Linda served up much sought-after advice in the same style as her drink of choice: trusted and unfiltered. A champion of literacy, Linda surrounded herself with books throughout her life; as a Librarian at the University of Utah Marriott Library for more than 50 years, she helped hundreds of students navigate their way to academic success. Linda showed this same dedication and care in many ways as she enjoyed hummingbirds, cats, orchids, and the Oregon Coast. She loved her family and community the very most. Linda is survived by her son Patrick Burns (Ashley Babbitt), grandson Milo Burns, and sister Joan Hubbard.

Linda joins her late husband James Burns "Big Jim" in a place just beyond the grasp of our greatest imaginations—a place she frequented while reading. When asked what her latest (and last) read was about, she beamed and replied, "A Librarian on an Adventure." We couldn't agree more with this final bookmark/benchmark of an irreplaceable, beloved Ma B. who graced our lives and gave the best advice.

God speed and much love from all of us Ma Burns, Linda, and Grandma.
