Lorraine Anderson Openshaw

1936 ~ 2016

Our beautiful wife and mother, Lorraine Anderson Openshaw, passed away on July 6, 2016. She was born July 14, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Hyrum Dale and Agnes Anderson. She graduated from West High School where she was involved in many activities, including playing chimes and the accordion. Her group, the Chimers, performed for the general primary presidency.

She married Lee Gerald Openshaw on May 19, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS temple and they had 61 wonderful years together, raising their three children in Sandy, Utah. They enjoyed various activities together like camping, motorcycle riding, and family games. Later in their years, Lorraine and Lee owned several classic cars and loved to go on cruises with their friends. They also enjoyed ballroom and square dancing for many years.

She was a strong and faithful member of the church, serving in many capacities including relief society president and temple ordinance worker. She sang in a number of choir groups and had the opportunity to perform in Jerusalem. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to numerous locations over the years, collecting pictures and stories from each. She loved her family unconditionally, finding so much joy in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The most important thing to her was always her family.

Survived by her husband Lee, son Michael (Julie), daughters Jan (Lamont) and Annette (Gary), 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and brother Phillip (Gail). Preceded in death by her parents, brother Neil and sister Rosalie, and grandson Anthony.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Midvalley 7th Ward, 1211 East 7800 South, Sandy, Utah. Viewings will be at the ward Friday evening 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
