Russell Lees Jacobsen, age 69, passed away on August 7, 2025 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born December 12, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Frank E. Jacobsen and E. Yvonne Jacobsen.
Russell was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in Sendai, Japan. He served in many LDS Church callings: as a Sunday School teacher, 2nd Counselor of the Bishopric, and financial clerk. His favorite being a Sunday School teacher, especially the Old Testament.
Russell especially loved Hockey, namely the Philadelphia Flyers, and later The Utah Hockey Club. His mantra was “If it ain’t Hockey, It ain’t sports”.
Russell is survived by his sisters Julie (John) McGee, and Jo Killian (Brent), his nieces, Stephanie Jacobsen and Kathie England (Joseph), his great nephews and niece, Peyton, Mishay, Mathias, and Liam.
He is preceded in death by Parents, Frank and Yvonne Jacobsen, brother Rick, and sister-in-law Wendy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1148 W 500 N Salt Lake City UT 84116.

My most sincere condolences on your loss. I didn't know Russell for too long. However, in the little time I got to know him, I thought he was a very espcial and great man. Loosing a loved one is tough, but I'm sure he is resting in a better place now and some day we will all have the opportunity to see the those who we have lost along the way.

Russ has been a dear friend for 38 years. He taught my parents in Gospel Essentials for years. He blessed my life.
