Sinai Tauanga Tupou

1950 ~ 2013

On Friday November 15, 2013 at age 63, our loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, surrounded by family at home, peacefully slipped from this world to the next.

Sinai was born August 20th 1950 in Fahefa, Tonga, to loving parents Viliata and Mele Pilimilose Tua'one. She is the fifth child out of 15 children. She married her eternal companion, Mailoni Tupou of Matahau, Tonga, in the Salt Lake Temple on May 13, 1975. Sinai and Mailoni raised 6 beautiful children, Lupe (Fifita) Manu: Alissia Sally and Lute L., Alisi Tupou Lolohea (2003), Simiki (Vika): Sinai Kryskatay Alicia, Mailoni James, Leinata Katyanah Leakehe, Alisi Katalina and Amylia Brookyln, Valencia Sally (1990), Semisi Fa'aoso (Falepogisa), and her baby Valencia Sally Tupou Manu. Her two daughters, Alisi and Valencia, preceding Sinai in this life, undoubtedly were among those who welcomed their mother as she entered her immortal state.

Sinai will always be remembered for her big smile, unique laugh, and genuine love for all those she knew. Her tremendous love for her family and passion for her children could be seen in her characteristic of being a hard worker. Whether occupationally, religiously, or family-oriented; she never stopped working. Even when diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2012, she always worked and served others. Her love for her family could only be compared to her love of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She labored as a temple worker in both the Salt Lake and Los Angeles temples. Her example of faith and teachings can be seen and felt thru her children and grandchildren, and that legacy will continue for generations to come.

A viewing for family and friends will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, from 6-11 pm at the Rose Park North Stake Center (1200 W 1200 N) and Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at the Riverside Ward chapel (660 N. Redwood Rd) from 11:30am-12:30pm, followed by the funeral service at the Redwood Memorial Estates (6500 S. Redwood Rd). Online condolences at www.larkinmortuary.com.
