Brian Todd Shelton

1961 ~ 2015

Brian Todd Shelton, age 54, passed away Monday, September 14 from a heart attack at his home in Salt Lake City. Brian was born February 7, 1961 in Billings, Montana to LeRoy and Lois Shelton. For four years the family lived in Decatur, Illinois, where LeRoy Shelton taught at Millikin University. In 1965 the family moved to Pocatello where LeRoy was employed by ISU.

Brian attended Lewis and Clark Elementary, Washington Elementary, Franklin Jr. High and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1979. In 1981 he moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah where he studied computer science. Brian began working for Associated Regional and University Pathologists (ARUP), part time in the 1980s. He later became a full time employee and worked there until his death.

Brian married Karen Baker in 1990. The couple lived in West Valley City. They later divorced. They have two children, Katherine and Nate. Brian spent the last years of his life with beloved Selina Begaye. She has a daughter, Virginia, and two grandchildren.

Brian enjoyed fishing, cycling, and gaming. He loved the companionship of friends and family. He always kept a few pet cats.

Brian was preceded in death by his father in 1998. He is survived by his children Katherine Shelton and Nate Shelton; also his mother Lois Shelton, brother Jeff Shelton, sister Martha Albrecht, Selina Begaye and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service for family and friends will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, at 2:00 PM.
