Theral J. Mott

1932 ~ 2016

Theral J. (T.J.) Mott, 84 passed away on May 21, 2016. He was born on March 3, 1932, to Emma Wood Mott and Loren Leroy Mott in Torrey, Utah. In 1941, at age 9, his family moved to SLC to find work. At this time, Theral landed his first job at the Farmer's Market. He was a hardworking and studious child. He served in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego but never had to serve in active duty. After an honorable discharge, Theral attended the University of Utah and received his doctoral degree to become a teacher and later, a principal. He worked his entire career in the Granite School District.

He was married to Karen Dygert in 1967, later divorced in 1980. Karen and Theral had two sons and a daughter. He and Karen worked hard at raising their children, operating rentals, and building and administrating apartments on property which had been his father and mother's enchanted orchard. He also ran a yardwork business with his sons in the summertime to teach them a solid work ethic.

He later married Lenore Coburn Davis in 1988 for an enjoyable and devoted 28 years. They loved traveling together and toured Italy, Greece, Scotland, England, Peru and many places around the U.S. He loved spending the winters down in Beaver Dam, Arizona, where they relished time with their friends.

As a child of the Depression, he religiously practiced frugality. He never met a Free sign he didn\t like. Theral enjoyed frequenting flea markets and swap meets for materials and supplies for his next project. He enjoyed woodworking and hand-crafting gifts for his family and friends. He was loyal, fun, a big tease, and hardworking his entire life. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister; Arda Mott Larkin. He is survived by his wife; Lenore Mott, his sister; LuWana Mott Delmoe and his 3 children: Loren Wayne (Becky) Mott; Trena Mott; and Theral Jason (Chanelle) Mott, and 8 grandchildren.
