Luana Henderson

1921 ~ 2016

Frances Luana Gowans Henderson, 94, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend passed away Sunday February 21, 2016. She was born May 4, 1921 to George H Gowans and Frances Ruth Shields Gowans in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a child she loved to dance. She grew up in Salt Lake City where she graduated from East High School and then worked for First Security Bank. She lived in Salt Lake most of her life. She married Garn S. Henderson on January 30, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. He passed away May 31, 1986.

When her children were born, she became a stay-at-home mom for a number of years. She then started to work for Beehive Travel and continued there for about 30 years. She was a travel agent and traveled all over the world. Luana retired at 72 years of age.

Luana was very active in her church. She served in many positions throughout her life in Young Womens, Relief Society, visiting teacher and Ward missionary and Member Locater Services. She wrote many award winning roadshows. She loved her roses and had a very large garden of them.

Luana is survived by her children Cheryl H Foulks (Otto-deceased) of Salt Lake, Kymm H McDaniel (Bob) of Arizona, Thomas G Henderson (Virginia) of Hawaii, sister Colleen Dickson (Ramon) of South Jordan, grandchildren Craig Zimmerman (Carol), Heather Lyman, Amber Park (Russ), Daniel Foulks (Jessica), Amy Foulks (Gilbert Martinez), great grandchildren Alyssa, Dustin, Austin, Kaily, Lily, Ayden, Braelee, Whitney, Preston, Jake, Addison, Bridger and Sophie. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, son Brad, son-in-law Otto, and grandson Otto.

An informal service will be held Friday, February 26, 2016, 11 a.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, where friends and family may visit Thursday evening from 7-8 p.m., and Friday morning one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive following services.
