Shirley Deanne Davis Grundmann

1917 ~ 2016

SHIRLEY DEANNE DAVIS GRUNDMANN: a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother was born December 31, 1917. She was the ninth and last child of Olivia Van Cott and Thomas Stafford Davis. The world celebrated her arrival and we mourn her departure at 98 and a half years old (Wednesday, May 25, 2016).

She attended Jefferson Elementary and Lincoln Junior High school, graduating from South High School in 1935. She spent a couple of years cheering on the University of Utah as a member of SPURS (pep squad) and pledging Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Things got exciting when her sorority teamed up with a men's chorus and she met her future husband, B. Raymond Grundmann during a musical performance at Liberty Park.

They were married January 19, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple and lived together happily for 54 years, producing four amazing children: Keith Paul Grundmann, Leslie G. Allen, Carol Rae and Julie G. Tanner. Both Ray and Julie preceded her in death (1994 and 1995). Shirley is survived by her three children, nine grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren so far.

We invite friends and family to celebrate her life with us on Tuesday, May 31st 2016 at the Foothill Second Ward Chapel, located at 1933 South 2100 East in Salt Lake City, Utah. Viewing at 10:00 am and Service at 11:00 am. Graveside dedication will follow at the Salt Lake City Cemetery located at "N" Street and 4th Avenue.
